[if gte mso 9]> In the present work, the thermal conductivity coefficients of nanoparticle-oil suspensions for two types of carbon nanotubes, single-walled (SWNTs) and multi-walled (MWNTs) carbon nanotubes at 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 wt.% were measured by a modified transient hot wire method (KD2-pro thermal property meter). Results showed that the thermal conductivity of suspension containing single-...

toluene and benzene were eliminated using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (mwcnts). in order to investigate influence of acid treatment on the mwcnts adsorption capacities, the mwcnts were functionalized by nitric acid (10 m) under reflux conditions for 2 h. fourier transform infrared (ftir) and raman spectroscopy were employed to confirm the formation of functional groups on the nanotubes surfac...

in this paper, we have used density functional perturbation theory (dfpt) and pseudo-potential method to calculate the phonon spectrum, phonon density of states (dos), specific heat capacity and mechanical properties of (5,5) armchair and (9,0) zigzag single wall carbon nanotubes (swcnts). our calculations show that young’s modulusfor (5,5) and (9,0) nanotubesare higher than 1tpa. we have also ...

there is no single standard technique or methodology to characterize the size, structure, number, and chemical composition of airborne carbon nanotubes.  existing analytical instruments and analytical techniques for evaluating nanoparticle concentrations cannot simultaneously provide morphology, state of agglomeration, surface area, mass, size distribution and chemical composition data critical...

the structure and the electronic properties of single-walled zigzag bn and b3c2n3 nanotubes (n, 0; n=4–10) were investigated using first-principles calculations based on a density functional theory. a plane–wave basis set with periodic boundary conditions in conjunction with vanderbilt ultrasoft pseudo-potential was employed. the energy gap of zb3c2n3nts was calculated and compared with the cor...

In this communication we have demonstrated the synthesis of organosilica nanotubes with inner diameter of ∼6 nm and their carbonization to form carbon/silica composite nanotubes. Pd nanoparticles. encapsulated in the organosilica and carbon/silica nanotubes show different catalytic activities in the hydrogenation of cyclohexene.

In this study, free vibration analysis of carbon nanotubes is investigated based on Timoshenko beam theory. Discrete singular convolution (DSC) method is used for free vibration problem of numerical solution of carbon nanotubes. Numerical results are presented and compared with that available in the literature. It is shown that reasonable accurate results are obtained. Keywords-Carbon Nanotubes...

We have measured electrical transport properties of boron nitride nanotubes using an in situ manipulation stage inside a transmission electron microscope. Stable currents were measured in a field emission geometry, but in contact the nanotubes are insulating at low bias. At high bias, the nanotubes show stable, reversible breakdown current. q 2003 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
