Synthesis of different kinds of nanotubes were considering after the discovery of carbon nanotubes . Lately has been noticed synthesis of vanadium oxide nanotubes. Vanadium oxide nanotubes are made of multilayer scrolls with thick walls built up from several vanadium oxide layers. This compunds be used as catalysts, molecular sieves, absorbents and energy storage devices. In this research study...

The effect of filling nanotubes with C60, CH4, or Ne on the mechanical properties of the nanotubes is examined. The approach is classical molecular dynamics using the reactive empirical bond order (REBO) and the adaptive intermolecular REBO potentials. The simulations predict that the buckling force of filled nanotubes can be larger than that of empty nanotubes, and the magnitude of the increas...

We propose an approach to the design of a new type of hybrids of oligonucleotides with fluorescein-functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes. The approach is based on stacking interactions of functionalized nanotubes with pyrene residues in conjugates of oligonucleotides. The aminoand fluorescein-modified singlewalled carbon nanotubes are obtained, and their physico-chemical properties are ...

Carbon nanotubes, unmodified (pristine) and modified through charged atoms, were simulated in water, and their water conduction rates determined. The conducted water inside the nanotubes was found to exhibit a strong ordering of its dipole moments. In pristine nanotubes the water dipoles adopt a single orientation along the tube axis with a low flipping rate between the two possible alignments....

We demonstrate selective burnout of individual carbon nanotubes that are electronically resonant with the incident laser energy. Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy are used to quantify the burnout of nanotubes. The threshold laser power for rapid burnout is found to occur between 0.4 and 0.9 W/lm. At lower laser powers of 80 mW/lm, the burnout depends linearly on time, over tens of ...

Single-crystalline metastable corundum-type In2O3 nanotubes were prepared by annealing solvothermally synthesized InOOH nanotubes under ambient pressure at 300 degrees C, and the formation mechanism of the nanotubes was investigated.

This paper describes a facile approach to a biomimetic rapid fabrication of ultrathin silica nanotubes with a highly uniform diameter of 10 nm and inner hollow of around 3 nm. The synthesis is carried out through a spontaneous polycondensation of alkoxysilane on polyamine crystalline fibrils that were conveniently produced from the neutralization of a solution of protonated linear polyethylenei...

Bamboo-type TiO2 nanotube arrays prepared via anodic oxidation are modified with Ag nanoparticles by pulsed electrochemical deposition, for improved lithium-ion intercalation property as the anode material in lithium-ion batteries. Heat treatment converts as-formed nanotubes into anatase for Ag deposition. Bare and Ag-modified nanotubes are cycled at a current density of 800 μAcm between 1.0 an...

Effect of hydrothermal treatment, acid washing and annealing temperature on the structure and morphology of TiO2 nanotubes during the formation process was assessed. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis were conducted to describe the formation and characterization of the structure and morp...

Magnetic heterostructures with carbon nanotubes having multiple functionalities are fascinating materials which can be manipulated by means of an external magnetic field. In this paper we report our investigations on the synthesis and optical limiting properties of pristine cobalt nanotubes and high coercivity cobalt-in-carbon nanotubes (a new nanosystem where carbon nanotubes are filled with c...
