Both in vitro and in vivo studies were performed in the present research to investigate the pharmacological effects of successive Nepeta cataria extracts on some biochemical parameters in Streptozotocin diabetic rats compared to the currently used drug, Glicalized. These involved some biochemical parameters such as glucose, insulin, carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes; α –amylase, αglucosidase, βg...
ABSTRACT: Light is one of the factors that influence germination and initial establishment orchids under in vitro cultivation. This study evaluated effect different light sources on these stages cultivation Schomburgkia crispa Lindl. After sowing an aseptic environment, we stored cultures a screened greenhouse (natural light) or growth room with following sources: 3,000 K yellow LED; 6,500 whit...
The organelle genomes of the Antarctic alga Prasiola crispa (Lightfoot) Kützing have been sequenced. The plastid and mitochondrial genomes have a total length of 196,502 bp and 89,819 bp, respectively. These genomes have 19 putative photosynthesis-related genes and 17 oxidative metabolism-related genes, respectively.
Karyotypic analysis of Tinospora cordifolia (Willd.) was carried out to determine the chromosomal classification by using “Aceto-orcine stain”. The plant is diploid with 2n=22 (18m+2Sm+2St) chromosomes and characterized in eleven pairs of chromosomes. The chromosomes are very short with a mean length 2.64 μm. and the total length of haploid complements was found 29.04 μm. The ideogram of Tinosp...
Introduction: Tinospora crispa (T. crispa) is an herbaceous plant that commonly grows wild in tropical regions of South East Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. In this well known to be used a traditional medicine treat gout, diabetes, hypertension, rheumatic, fever, appetite stimulant. Researches worldwide indicate T. poses several pharmacological properties. One those t...
Hook opening in seedlings of Cuscuta gronovii Willd. occurred only after prolonged exposures to blue, red, or far red light. Prolonged far red exposure was less effective than prolonged exposure to red or blue light. Brief far red irradiation inhibited the inductive effect of red light. The far red inhibition was in turn reversed by brief red irradiation. These effects suggest the involvement o...
Background and Objective: Many studies demonstrate that cognitive empowerment reduces the risk of depression. Anti-depressant properties of Nepeta menthoides has also been reported. This study aimed to determine the effects of mental exercise and Nepeta menthoides and also to compare both of them on reserpine-induced depression in rats. Materials and Methods: Male rats were divided into 8 grou...
