In this paper, we derive a family of source term quadrature formulas for preserving third-order accuracy of the node-centered edge-based discretization for conservation laws with source terms on arbitrary simplex grids. A three-parameter family of source term quadrature formulas is derived, and as a subset, a oneparameter family of economical formulas is identified that does not require second ...

In this paper we characterize rational Szegő quadrature formulas associated with Chebyshev weight functions, by giving explicit expressions for the corresponding para-orthogonal rational functions and weights in the quadratures. As an application, we give characterizations for Szegő quadrature formulas associated with rational modifications of Chebyshev weight functions. Some numerical experime...

We present several new quadrature formulas in the triangle for exact integrationof polynomials. The points were computed numerically with a cardinal function algorithm whichimposes that the number of quadrature points N be equal to the dimension of a lower dimensionalpolynomial space. Quadrature forumulas are presented for up to degree d = 25, all which havepositive weights and ...

The numerical solution of optimization problems governed by partial differential equations (PDEs) with random coefficients is computationally challenging because of the large number of deterministic PDE solves required at each optimization iteration. This paper introduces an efficient algorithm for solving such problems based on a combination of adaptive sparse-grid collocation for the discreti...

In this paper we give necessary and sufficient conditions for convergence of continuous collocation approximations of solutions of first kind Volterra integral equations. The results close some longstanding gaps in the theory of polynomial spline collocation methods for such equations. The convergence analysis is based on a Runge-Kutta or ODE approach.

A function and its first two derivatives are estimated by convolutions with well-chosen non-differentiable kernels. The convolutions are in turn approximated by Newton–Cotes integration techniques with the aid of a polynomial interpolation based on an arbitrary finite set of points. Precise numerical results are obtained with far fewer points than that in classic SPH, and error bounds are deriv...

In this paper, we use parametric form of fuzzy number, then feed-forward neural network is presented for obtaining approximate solution for fuzzy Fredholm integro-differential equation of the second kind. This paper presents a method based on neural networks and Newton-Cotes methods with positive coefficient. The ability of neural networks in function approximation is our main objective. The pr...

We analyze the blow-up behavior of one-parameter collocation solutions for Hammerstein-type Volterra integral equations (VIEs) whose solutions may blow up in finite time. To approximate such solutions (and the corresponding blow-up time), we will introduce an adaptive stepsize strategy that guarantees the existence of collocation solutions whose blow-up behavior is the same as the one for the e...
