The copolymers of glycidyl methacrylate/a-methyl styrene were synthesized. The quantitative C{H}-NMR spectroscopy was used to determine the copolymer compositions. The distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer, C-H heteronuclear single quantum coherence and total correlation spectroscopy were used for the complete spectral assignment of C{H}and H-NMR spectra.

Spectral unraveling by space-selective Hadamard spectroscopy (SUSHY) enables recording of NMR spectra of multiple samples loaded in multiple sample tubes in a modified spinner turbine and a regular 5mm liquids NMR probe equipped with a tri-axis pulsed field gradient coil. The individual spectrum from each sample is extracted by adding and subtracting data that are simultaneously obtained from a...

Solid-state NMR spectroscopy is routinely used to determine the structural and dynamic properties of both membrane proteins and peptides in phospholipid bilayers [1-26]. From the perspective of the perpetuated lipids, H solid-state NMR spectroscopy can be used to probe the effect of embedded proteins on the order and dynamics of the acyl chains of phospholipid bilayers [8-13]. Moreover, P solid...

The absolute quantification of blood plasma metabolites by proton NMR spectroscopy is complicated by the presence of a baseline and broad resonances originating from serum macromolecules and lipoproteins. A method for spectral simplification of proton NMR spectra of blood plasma is presented. Serum macromolecules and metabolites are completely separated by utilizing the large difference in tran...

An important aspect of understanding enzymatic reaction mechanisms is the determination of the molecular structures of enzyme-bound substrates and products. NMR spectroscopy is in a unique position in that it is the only relatively high resolution structural technique which can focus on specific parts of the molecule, such as enzyme-bound intermediates. It has been widely applied to the study o...

Microfluidic compensation structures are introduced as a tool to homogenize magnetic field gradients present in microfluidic NMR spectroscopy. Magnetic field distortions are eliminated by compensating the magnetic susceptibility mismatch between the sample fluid and chip material through additional, lithographically defined compensation structures. This strategy will allow high resolution NMR s...

Two new unusual natural pigments were first isolated from the whole herbs of Selaginella tamariscina. The structure of selaginellin A (1) was established as (R,S)-4-[(4'-hydroxy-3-((4-hydroxyphenyl)ethynyl)biphenyl-2-yl)(4-hydroxyphenyl)methylene]-2,5-cyclohexadien-1-one and selaginellin B (2) as (R,S)-4-[(4'-methoxy-4-(methyl)-3-((4-methoxyphenyl)ethynyl)biphenyl-2-yl)(4-methoxyphenyl)methylen...

GM2AP has a β-cup topology with numerous X-ray structures showing multiple conformations for some of the surface loops, revealing conformational flexibility that may be related to function, where function is defined as either membrane binding associated with ligand binding and extraction or interaction with other proteins. Here, site-directed spin labeling (SDSL) electron paramagnetic resonance...

Partially deuterated Ca3Al2(SiO4)3 x(OH)4x hydrates prepared by a reaction in the presence of D2O of synthetic tricalcium aluminate with different amounts of amorphous silica were characterized by Si and Al magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The Si NMR spectroscopy was used for quantifying the non-reacted silica and the resulting hydrated products. The incorpora...
