Overlay control is becoming increasingly more important with the scaling of technology. It has become even more critical and more challenging with the move toward multiple-patterning lithography, where overlay translates into CD variability. Design rules and overlay have strong interaction and can have a considerable impact on the design area, yield, and performance. This paper offers a framewo...

Overlay networks have emerged as a powerful and flexible platform for developing new disruptive network applications. The attractive characteristics of overlay networks such as planetary-scale distributions, user-level flexibility (e.g. overlay routing) and manageability bring to overlay fault diagnosis new challenges, which include inaccessible underlying network information, incomplete and in...

objective: retention and resistance of the implant-tissue supported overdenture may be affected by the type of attachment. the aim of this research was to compare the retention and resistance of nobel biocare ball (nbb), nobel biocare bar and clip (nbbc) and sterngold era red (erar) attachments on an implant-tissue supported overdenture model. materials and methods: the attachment samples were ...

Overlay networks among cooperating hosts have recently emerged as a viable solution to several challenging problems, including multicasting, routing, content distribution, and peer-to-peer services. Application-level overlays, however, incur a performance penalty over router-level solutions. This paper characterizes this performance penalty for overlay multicast trees via experimental data, sim...

This paper presents a dynamic hybrid Service Overlay Network (SON) for service composition for multimedia delivery in mobile networks. The overlay considers the nomadic nature of mobile nodes in the decision for node placement within the overlay as well as the types of services provided and expected Quality of Service (QoS) levels. Dynamic re-organization of the overlay reflects changes in stab...

This paper proposes Canicula, a locality-aware overlay multicast system. Its overlay network is constructed by node clustering based on network coordinate. According to the experimental results of both RDP and packets loss rate on PlanetLab, it shows that the performance of locality-aware overlay multicast is better than the other prevailing overlay multicast.

In this paper, we propose a hierarchical semantic overlay network for searching heterogeneous data over wide-area networks. In this system, data are represented as RDF triples based on ontologies. Peers that have the same semantics are organized into a semantic cluster, and the semantic clusters are self-organized into a one-dimensional ring space to form the toplevel semantic overlay network. ...

Abstract. Overlay applications are popular as they provide high-level functionality by masking the intrinsic complexity of the underlay network. However, overlays rely on the underlay to provide them with basic connectivity. Therefore, the intrinsic features of the underlay network determine the efficiency of the overlay. Accordingly, studying the interdependency of the overlay and underlay net...

Overlay networks are becoming increasingly popular for their ability to provide effective and reliable service catered to specific applications [1][2][3]. For instance, this concept has been used in peer-to-peer services like SplitStream, content delivery networks like Akamai, resilient networks like RON and so on. Overlay networks consist of a number of nodes (spanning one or many domains) tha...

Overlay networks have recently gained attention as a viable alternative to overcome functionality limitations of the Internet. We are concerned with scenarios where a dynamic routing protocol is employed in the overlay network to adapt overlay routing tables to changing network conditions. At the same time, the native network over which the overlay is built also runs its own set of dynamic rout...
