The baryon junction exchange mechanism recently proposed to explain valence baryon number transport in nuclear collisions is extended to study midrapidity anti-hyperon production. Baryon junction-antijunction (JJ̄) loops are shown to enhance Λ̄, Ξ̄, Ω̄ as well as lead to long range rapidity correlations. Results are compared to recent WA97 PbPb → Y Ȳ X data. 25.75.-q,24.10.Lx Typeset using REVTEX

The concentration of acetylcholine (ACh) in the synaptic cleft at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) remains impossible to quantify using direct measurements based upon spatio-temporal resolution. We present a model of the concentration of ACh in the synaptic cleft. Our model considers the release mechanism and the clearance process, represented by the hydrolysis of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) an...

In this paper ZnO nanorods and nanodots (with and without a SiO2 buffer layer) were grown on p-Si, forming p–n heterojunctions. The nanorod devices showed no visible electroluminescence (EL) emission but showed rectifying behavior. Covering around 60% of the length of the nanorods with PMMA produced an ideality factor of 3:91 0:11 together with a reverse saturation current of 6:53 4:2 10 8 A. U...

An enhanced understanding of the microstructure of oxide ceramics will help scientists and engineers improve their efficiency and design. A phase-field model for the composition and phase distribution of the oxide ceramic components is studied. The model, which includes an obstacle in the phase portion of the energy potential, results in a minimisation problem that characterises the distributio...

Magnetic skyrmions are topologically protected nanoscale objects, which are promising building blocks for novel magnetic and spintronic devices. Here, we investigate the dynamics of a skyrmion driven by spin wave in magnetic nanowire. It is found that (i) the skyrmion is first accelerated and then decelerated exponentially, (ii) it can turn L-corners with both right and left turns, (iii) it alw...

The p–n junction i–u characteristic model is decisive for the accuracy enhancement of calibration-free temperature measurement. In this paper, we give a survey of adapted physically-based p–n junction i–u characteristic models, such as the Ebers–Moll2, the Ebers–Moll3, and the Gummel–Poon model. Furthermore, we build new models through polynomial extensions to the fundamental Shockley model. Th...
