CONCLUSIONS Priapism secondary to penile metastasis of transitional cell carcinoma is...
Penile fracture of the erect penis is an uncommon but emergent urological trauma. Potential outcomes include erectile dysfunction, penile curvature, and urethral injury. Treatment is emergent surgical repair. We present the case of a 42-year-old man with a penile fracture complicated by a urethral rupture and subsequent repair. A discussion of the key aspects of this condition is presented.
Penile cancer is a very rare disease, with incidence and mortality of 0.3% and 0.2% in Poland, respectively [1]. In 2010, 232 new cases were diagnosed (standardized rate 0.8/105) and 89 patients died from the disease (standardized rate 0.2/105). Most new cases and deaths were observed in men aged over 50, with a slight improvement in one– and five–year survival rates in the last 10 years [1]. T...
Penile strangulation caused by foreign bodies mostly occurs in adolescents and adult males. When it happens, foreign bodies are often not easy to be removed. Penile strangulation is a rarely described urological emergency, especially in the adolescent population. This paper demonstrates the successful removal of a metal axletree causing penile strangulation in a 19-year-old male with the help o...
Penile fractures are an uncommon urological emergency. Typically, penile fractures involve the corpus cavernosum and are sometimes associated with urethral injury. Isolated corpus spongiosum and urethral injuries without concomitant corpus cavernosum injury are, however, rare. With proper knowledge of the management of penile fractures and urethral injuries, this distinct entity can be diagnose...
BACKGROUND Limited data are available on whether sampling from the penile shaft or urethra increases detection of penile HPV infection in men beyond that found in the glans and coronal sulcus. METHODS Within a randomized clinical trial, a validation study of penile sampling was conducted in Kisumu, Kenya. Young men (18-24 years) were invited to provide penile exfoliated cells using prewetted ...
A case of penile abscess after amphetamine injection into the penis is reported. A 45-year-old male patient was successfully treated with surgical drainage and antibiotics. There were no 3-month consequences of treatment at follow-up, and the patient maintained potency, without any penile deformity. The aetiology, diagnosis, and management of penile abscesses are discussed.
Penile paraffinoma is a rare but well-known entity. There have been few studies describing the ultrasound and MRI features of penile paraffinoma. In this case series we describe the imaging findings of 4 patients who self-injected "Jamaica oil" into their penises for the purpose of penile augmentation and discuss the utility of US and MRI in the management of these patients.
Penile amputation is an uncommon urological emergency. Although rare, traumatic amputation of penis is a challenging injury to treat. However, modern microsurgical reconstruction techniques have improved success rate of penile replantation and become the procedure of choice for managing these patients. Herein, we report on a case of penile amputation following an industrial accident.
