Rapid detection of Vibrio vulnificus can be enhanced by optimizing the components of enrichment broth. The pine wilt nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, has been cultured axenically in vitro on soy peptone/yeast extract or modified Caenorhabditis medium supplemented with cholesterol and hemoglobin.
