In this paper, seventh-order iterative methods for the solution ofnonlinear equations are presented. The new iterative methods are developed byusing weight function method and using an approximation for the last derivative, which reduces the required number of functional evaluations per step. Severalexamples are given to illustrate the eciency and the performance of the newiterative methods.

Simulation was used to examine the changes that may occur in international dairy sire evaluations when differing amounts of historical performance data are used. When the base genetic variances within each population were equal, use of all historical data in international sire evaluations gave unbiased predictions for breeding values. When some historical data from one population were discarded...

Job performance is optimal when worker skills fit with defined dimensions for job role. This is termed “role breadth”. The present study investigated this fitness. Also the relationship between autonomy, cognitive ability and performance in assessment centers with job performance according to role breadth was investigated. The research sample consisted of 139 managers of Isfahan gov...

Emotion perception is a complex process, often measured using stimuli presentation experiments that query evaluators for their perceptual ratings of emotional cues. These evaluations contain large amounts of variability both related and unrelated to the evaluated utterances. One approach to handling this variability is to model emotion perception at the individual level. However, the perception...

In steady state of process systems, reductions in cost and advances in quality are continuously pursued. Some process systems are considered time-variant systems with system characteristics that change according to the conditions and environments of the system operations. Previously, one of the authors proposed a design scheme of a selftuning PID control system, in which a user-specified parame...

All research projects making conclusions or recommendations based on environmentally related measurements and funded by the Environmental Protection Agency are required to participate in the Agency Quality Assurance Program. This project did not involve environmentally related measurements and did not involve a Quality Assurance Project Plan. Mention of trade names or commercial products does n...

The paper investigates the performance of novice evaluators in usability evaluations by presenting the results of a comparative usability evaluation that was conducted by nine novice evaluator teams. The evaluation teams performed considerably well in terms of the validity of their results, which counts for their participation in usability evaluation projects. The thoroughness of the results ob...

Web caching plays an important role in many network services. Utilization of the cache in each level (server, proxy, and client) of network forms a web caching hierarchy. A major problem of the hierarchical caching is the poor performance due to the interference between upper-level and lower-level caches. This paper investigates the replacement algorithms applied in the network caching hierarch...

Does information irrelevant to government performance affect voting behavior? If so, how does this help us understand the mechanisms underlying voters' retrospective assessments of candidates' performance in office? To precisely test for the effects of irrelevant information, we explore the electoral impact of local college football games just before an election, irrelevant events that governme...

CONTEXT Narrative feedback documented in performance evaluations by the teacher, i.e. the clinical supervisor, is generally accepted to be essential for workplace learning. Many studies have examined factors of influence on the usage of mini-clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX) instruments and provision of feedback, but little is known about how these factors influence teachers' feedback-giv...
