In the present study, comparison of  photocatalytic activity of nanostructures semiconductor zinc oxide (ZnO) was prepared using the different methods on the degradation of organic dye such as methylene blue that was investigated. Previous studies have proved that such semiconductors can degrade most kinds of persistent organic pollutants, such as detergents, dyes, pesticides and volatile organ...

Novel etched Cu2O cubes with exposed {110} facets are synthesized via an oxidative etching method at room temperature. The photocatalytic performance indicates that these architectures show higher photocatalytic activity than that of the normal Cu2O cubes in the degradation of methylene orange.

Bismuth vanadate and titanium dioxide (BiVO4/TiO2) composites, used as visible-light-driven photocatalysts were successfully synthesized with different mole ratios by coupling of a co-precipitation method with a sol-gel method. The phase transitions of the as-prepared BiVO4/TiO2 composites were carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results clearly indicated that the as-synthesized BiVO4/T...

The photocatalytic degradation of a macrolide (tylosin) has been studied using immobilized titanium dioxide as photocatalyst in a laboratory reactor under UV illumination (365 nm). The degradation of the antibiotic and of the reaction intermediary product was monitored by UV spectrophotometry and HPLC. Three photocatalysts (P25 from Degussa and PC105 and PC500 from Millennium) immobilized on gl...

Mesoporous amorphous and nanocrystalline titanium dioxide were prepared by simple and environmental friendly modified Sol-Gel method using cationic (C14TAB, C16TAB, C18TAB) and nonionic (Plantacare UP K55) surfactant as pore forming agent. The obtained particles were characterized by BET, TEM, FT-IR and XRD techniques. The effect of cationic surfactant chain...

The nano sized TiO2 and ZnO are the most active photocatalysts.  Methylene blue was used as a reference molecule for the photocatalytic degradation. The TiO2 and ZnO can totally remove methylene blue dye. The effect of various process parameters like initial concentration, contact time, dose of catalyst and pH on the extent of removal of dye by photocatalysis in presence o...
