The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(2)Cl(4)F(3)NO(2), contains two independent mol-ecules. In each mol-ecule, the phthalimide ring system is nearly planar [maximum atomic deviation = 0.031 (2) or 0.038 (2) Å] and oriented with respect to the benzene ring at 65.04 (7) or 71.76 (10)°. Weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Nucleophilic substitution reactions of 2-halo-2H-azirines 1a, 1b, 1d, and 1e with potassium phthalimide and aniline allowed the preparation of new substituted 2H-azirines 2-5. The reactions of 2-bromo-2H-azirine 1a with methylamine led to the synthesis of alpha-diimines 7 and 8. 2-Halo-2H-azirines were also established as building blocks for the synthesis of a range of heterocyclic compounds, n...

The reactivity of the electro-oxidation products N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) with an aromatic alcohol, 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol (MBA) in a sulfuric acid-acetonitrile mixed solution was investigated. Phthalimide N-oxyl radical (PINO·), which is produced by one-electron oxidation NHPI, reacted MBA as well aprotic solvent. Further PINO· also but results showed complex-shaped voltamograms.

Synthetic methods that achieve oxidative 1,2-difunctionalization of alkenes are very powerful in organic chemistry. Here we report the first examples of intermolecular Pd-catalyzed aminoacetoxylation of alkenes with phthalimide as the nitrogen source and PhI(OAc)2 as the stoichiometric oxidant and source of acetate. These reactions are highly regio- and diastereoselective, and mechanistic studi...

Some novel ester imides synthesised from trimellitic acid anhydride and 1-adamantanol or 2-adamantanol, were tested as antimicrobial compounds. Unfortunately, these agents showed a modest antibacterial activity (MIC > 6 microg/ml). However, a comparison of these N-substituted adamantylester imides with the series published previously, indicated that the incorporation of L-alanine and L-phenylal...

A new type of alpha-phthalimide ketones was hydrogenated in excellent enantioselectivity by using a Ru-(C3-TunePhos) complex as the catalyst. Up to 10 000 turnovers have been achieved in more than 99% ee in the hydrogenation reaction. A dynamic kinetic resolution study for the synthesis of threonine was performed, and high anti selectivity (>97:3) was observed for the first time. An efficient m...

Dioxygen-coupled oxidative amination of olefins is an attractive, but challenging, catalytic transformation. The present work describes the first general method for intermolecular oxidative amination of aryl olefins with molecular oxygen as the stoichiometric oxidant. This palladium-catalyzed reactivity is compatible with several different nitrogen nucleophiles, including oxazolidinone, phthali...

This review presents a strategy for management of poly vinyl chloride (PVC) waste by chemical modification as a viable method. PVC contains chlorine as a source to attack by nucleophiles (Nu-) and resultant product can be used for various applications due to its conductivity, antibacterial and ion exchange properties. Prominently used Nuare I-, SCN-, OH-, N3 -, phthalimide anion and concentrate...

The title compound, C(28)H(16)N(2)O(5), is a bis-imide derivative in which two phthalimide units are linked by an oxydi-p-phenyl-ene bridge. The dihedral angle between the planes of the two central benzene rings is 86.1 (4)°. The isoindole groups make dihedral angles of 46.0 (14) and 77.5 (13)° with the attached benzene rings. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds contribute to the stability of ...

The photochemistry of phthalimide derivatives of the electron-rich amino acids tyrosine, histidine and tryptophan 8-10 was studied with respect to photoinduced electron-transfer (PET) induced decarboxylation and Norrish II bond cleavage. Whereas exclusive photodecarboxylation of the tyrosine substrate 8 was observed, the histidine compound 9 resulted in a mixture of histamine and preferential N...
