The title compound {systematic name: 2-[(3,5-dimenthylpyrazol-1-yl)meth-yl]isoindole-1,3-dione}, C(14)H(13)N(3)O(2), was prepared by reaction of N-(bromo-meth-yl)phthalimide and 3,5-dimethyl-pyrazole in chloro-form solution. The mol-ecular structure and packing are stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding and C-H⋯π inter-actions.
In the title compound, C13H12N2O5, the phthalimide ring system is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.0479 (14) Å. In the crystal, each mol-ecule is linked via six neighbouring mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network through N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which form an R 3 (2)(8) ring motif.
Hydrogen-bond-mediated complexation of a CG base pair by a hexylureido phthalimide and a hexylureido isoindolin-1-one was studied by (1)H NMR spectroscopy in an organic solvent. Chemical shift data indicate that both receptors effectively bind the CG base pair from the major groove side.
4,5-Bis(aminomethyl)acridine, useful as an immunosuppressant, was prepared in 31% overall yield by the reaction of acridine with N-(hydroxymethyl)phthalimide and subsequent decomposition with excess 6 N HCl. The drug was found to produce a suppression of the humoral antibody response comparable to several known immunosuppressive agents.
