CuCo2S4 nanoparticles demonstrating outstanding electrochemical performances were firstly synthesized through a simple solvothermal approach without using any templates. CuCo2S4 synthesized in glycerol (CuCo2S4-glycerol) fulfills an ultrahigh capacitance of 5030 F g(-1) at 20 A g(-1) in a polysulfide electrolyte.

A light-weight, high specific surface current collector made of vertically-aligned carbon nanotubes grown on an aluminum substrate was fabricated and studied as a positive electrode in a semi-liquid lithium/polysulfide battery. This simple system delivered stable capacities over 1000 mA h gS(-1) and 2 mA h cm(-2) with almost no capacity loss over 50 cycles.

Herein, we report a cheap and simple approach to solve the polysulfide dissolution problem in lithium sulfur batteries. It was interestingly revealed that a simple insertion of acetylene black mesh enabled us to obtain the capacity of 1491 mA h g(-1) at initial discharge and 1062 mA h g(-1) after 50 cycles.
