Abstract This paper reports on design, measurement and optimisation of a Tamm plasmon metal-distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) cavity for use in the green part visible spectrum. It uses an optimised silver layer thickness porous DBR created using novel electro-chemical etching technique. device has applications low-cost lasers, photodetectors, photoconductive switches wavelength range.

in the present study, natural convective heat transfer in a partitioned square cavity utilizing nanofluids is studied. the vertical left and right walls are considered as the hot and cold walls, respectively and the partitions assumed to be adiabatic. the nanofluid used in this study is al2o3 with the volume fraction of 20%. it is assumed that nanofluid is a single phase fluid. fluent 6.3.26 is...

We report experiments in which the line shape of the Lyman-alpha (1S-2P) transition was measured for positronium (Ps) atoms both inside and outside a porous silica target. The energy interval ΔE for confined atoms was observed to be larger than that of free Ps by 1.26±0.06  meV. A configuration interaction calculation yields results that are consistent with our ∼5  nm sample, and suggests that ...

Interactions between pairs of positronium (Ps) atoms confined in porous silica films have been directly observed for the first time. Because of selection rules, the nature of such interactions should depend on the structure of the porous medium: if a Ps surface state exists, dipositronium (Ps2) molecules may be created, and if there is a continuum of cavity energy levels, spin exchanging collis...

We report a method for synthesizing quasi-single crystalline porous ZnO nanostructures containing a single large cavity. The microwave-assisted route consists of a short (about 2 min) temperature ramping stage (from room temperature to 120 °C) and a stage in which the temperature is maintained at 120 °C for 2 h. The structures produced by this route were 200-480 nm in diameter. The morphologica...

Standards have limited the allowable noise levels in different situations, requiring the study of solutions at the source, in the path or the receiver. Muffler is the major factor influencing the noise of rotary compressor. Control and analyze the acoustic characteristics of muffler is essential. Porous materials have been studied and widely applied to reduce aircraft and vehicular noise or ind...

This work investigates the acoustical properties of a multilayer porous material in which periodic inclusions are embedded. The material is assumed to be backed by a rigid wall. Most of the studies performed in this field used the multipole method and are limited to circular shape inclusions. Here, a mode matching approach, more convenient for a layered system, is adopted. The inclusions can be...
