The fundamental problem of how tunneling in thermal medium is completed is addressed, and a new time scale of order 1/friction for its termination, which is usually much shorter than the Hubble time, is pointed out. Enhanced non-linear resonance is responsible for this short time scale. This phenomenon occurs when the semiclassical periodic motion in a metastable potential well resonates with o...

This paper aims to present some uniqueness and well-posedness results for vector equilibrium problems (for short, VEPs). We first construct a complete metric spaceM consisting of VEPs satisfying some conditions. Using the method of set-valued analysis, we prove that there exists a dense everywhere residual subset Q ofM such that each VEP in Q has a unique solution. Moreover, we introduce and ob...

We report the results of a careful expenmental investigation of trie Cu site configurations in the Cu02 Plane of B12Sr2CaCu208+y (B12212) showing tbat trie quasi 2D Fermi liquid is confined in trie stripes of width L with a superlattice period

We study theoretically the effect of thermal population on the emission spectrum of single CdSe nanocrystals. Quantum confinement leads to nonsimple emission band shapes, which have different characteristics for excitons, biexcitons, positive, and negative trions. These effects are particularly pronounced in nanorods. The maximum of the emission band is not necessarily centered at the fundament...

We consider chains of particles with nearest-neighbor coupling, independently subjected to noise, all initially in the same well of a symmetric double-well potential. If there are sufficiently few particles, transitions from one well to another are “collective”; i.e., all particles remain close together as they make the passage from one well to the other. In longer chains, only a fraction of th...

Palladium (Pd) is considered as ideal hydrogen sensing material due to its properties as high sensitivity and selectivity to hydrogen gas, fast response and reversible room temperature operation.Silicon nanowire (SiNW) functionalized with Pd based hydrogen gas nanowire sensor having quantum confinement effect and high sensitivity because of high surface to volume ratio of SiNW. This paper highl...

In this letter, we consider the Schrödinger equation for a well potential with varying width. We solve one dimensional Schrödinger equation subject to time-dependent boundary conditions for a spinless particle inside infinite potential well, both wall of which move opposite direction with different velocities υ1 and υ2, respectively. In this paper the nonlinear viscoelastic wave equation |ut|utt −∆u−∆utt + ∫ t 0 g(t− τ)∆u(τ)dτ − γ∆ut = b|u|p−2u is considered. Using the potential well method a global existence and an exponential decay result are proved. Moreover, for sufficiently large values of the initial data and for a suitable relation between p and the relaxation function g, we establish an unboundedness result.

The relationship between the Coulomb displacement energy for the A=8, J=2 + , T=1 state and the low-energy astrophysical S 17 factor for the 7 Be(p,γ) 8 B reaction is discussed. The displacement energy is interpreted in a particle-hole model. The dependence of the particle displacement energy on the potential well geometry is investigated and is used to relate the particle displacement energy t...

In this paper the scalar-tensor theory of gravity is assumed to describe the evolution of the universe and the gravitational scalar φ is ascribed to play the role of inflaton. The theory is characterized by the specified coupling function ω(φ) and the cosmological function λ(φ). The function λ(φ) is nearly constant for 0 < φ < 0.1 and λ(1) = 0. The functions λ(φ) and ω(φ) provide a double-well ...
