Here we report the genome sequence of a plant-growth-promoting rhizobacterium, Pseudomonas putida strain MTCC5279. The length of the draft genome sequence is approximately 5.2 Mb, with a GC content of 62.5%. The draft genome sequence reveals a number of genes whose products are possibly involved in plant growth promotion and abiotic stress tolerance.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a ubiquitous opportunistic pathogen causing a broad range of infections in humans. We provide the draft genome sequence of the recently identified and highly virulent P. aeruginosa PA45 strain. Its 6.6-Mb genome contains 6,822 genes, including an unparalleled number of virulence genes, which might explain its aggressive phenotype.

RPG1 and RPM1 are disease resistance genes in soybean and Arabidopsis, respectively, that confer resistance to Pseudomonas syringae strains expressing the avirulence gene avrB. RPM1 has recently been demonstrated to have a second specificity, also conferring resistance to P. syringae strains expressing avrRpm1. Here we show that alleles, or closely linked genes, exist at the RPG1 locus in soybe...

Pseudomonas stutzeri is a nonfluorescent denitrifying bacterium widely distributed in the environment, and it has also been isolated as an opportunistic pathogen from humans. Over the past 15 years, much progress has been made in elucidating the taxonomy of this diverse taxonomical group, demonstrating the clonality of its populations. The species has received much attention because of its part...

A novel facultative psychrotroph (strain CBS-1), which accumulates poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB), was isolated from soil samples taken from Changbai Mountain, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA sequence data and Biolog analysis identified strain CBS-1 as Pseudomonas mandelii. Transmission electron micrographs revealed abundant electron-transparent intracellular granules. (1)H-nuclear...

We report here the draft genome sequence of three Pseudomonas fluorescens strains (L111, L228, and L321) isolated from Miscanthus giganteus The draft genome analyses uncovered a group of genes involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites and for plant growth promotion.

The VIM-2-producing multidrug-resistant high-risk clone Pseudomonas aeruginosa sequence type (ST) 175 was isolated in the setting of a large outbreak in Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre (Spain) from 2007 to 2010. This strain was resistant to all β-lactams, fluoroquinolones, and aminoglycosides, with the exception of amikacin, and has become an endemic clone in our institution.

Many strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens show potential for biological control of phytopathogens especially root pathogens. In taxonomic terms, several of them are indeed P. fluorescens sensu stricto, while others belong in fact to neighbouring species of the 'P. fluorescens' complex or to ill-defined related species within the fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. These bacteria have become prominent mo...

Pseudomonas putida OUS82 was isolated from petrol- and oil-contaminated soil in 1992, and ever since, it has been used as a model organism to study the microbial assimilation of naphthalene and phenanthrene. Here, we report the 6.7-Mb draft genome sequence of P. putida OUS82 and analyze its featured pathways for biodegradation.

Pseudomonas syringae is a ubiquitous bacterium that readily persists in environmental habitats as a saprophyte and also is responsible for numerous diseases of crops. Here, we report the whole-genome sequences of 10 strains isolated from both woody and herbaceous plants that will contribute to the elucidation of the determinants of their host ranges.
