BACKGROUND Solid-pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas is a rare neoplasia of pancreas, with a rate varying from 0.17%-2.7% of non-endocrine tumors of the pancreas. Recently there has been a steady increase in the number of solid-pseudopapillary tumors of the pancreas, with more than two thirds of the total cases described in the last 10 years. OBJECTIVE To evaluate four patients with Frantz'...
CONTEXT A solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas is a rare neoplasm which, for the most part, affects young women and has a relatively favorable prognosis with a low malignant potential. These tumors usually have unclear clinical features and may form very large masses before being diagnosed. CASE REPORT We report the case of a 29-year-old woman who underwent complete resection of the tu...
A solid and cystic pancreatic lesion was incidentally found in a 62-year-old woman on abdominal computed tomography. The lesion was diagnosed as a solid pseudopapillary neoplasm by using endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration, and the tumor was resected. Histologically, the tumor cells had relatively small, round nuclei and papillary-like architecture in a hemorrhagic background. O...
Solid-pseudopapillary tumour of the pancreas is a rare benign or low-grade malignant epithelial tumour that occurs mainly in young females. Pathologic and imaging findings include a well-defined, encapsulated pancreatic mass with cystic and solid components with hemorrhage. We report a 23-year-old woman that presented with epigastric pain of long duration and epigastric mass on palpation. MDCT ...
A previously healthy 10-year-old female presented to a local emergency department following three days of nausea and vomiting diagnosed with a solid pseudopapillary tumor. Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms are a rare form of pancreatic cystic neoplasm that typically presents in young females in their 20-30s and are very rare in children. These neoplasms often present as an asymptomatic tumor foun...
We report a case of solid pseudopapillary epithelial neoplasm the pancreas in 19-year-old female who presented with abdominal pain. Computed tomography abdomen showed heterogenous density mass tail pancreas. The had fluid central region and soft tissue peripheral region. Post-contrast evaluation enhancement component. Based on radiological investigation carried out at our institute, diagnosis w...
Solid pseudopapillary tumor (SPT), also known as Frantz tumor is an unusual form of pancreatic neoplasm. Its natural history differs from the more common pancreatic adenocarcinoma in that it has a female predilection, is more indolent, and carries a better prognosis. Metastatic disease can occur, usually involving the liver, and its management is not well defined.
Solid pseudopapillary tumor is a rare pancreatic neoplasm that typically affects young women. Characteristic CT appearance is that of a mixed-density lesion with solid component peripherally and cystic component centrally. Even larger tumors are well encapsulated with sharp demarcation, amenable to complete resection.
