The objective of the present study was to examine the influence of cosolvent system and microemulsion formulation on in-vitro skin permeation of gabapentin, furthermore, to characterize the physicochemical properties of drug-loaded oil-in-water (o/w) and water-in-oil (w/o) cremophor 40-based microemulsions in comparison to the blank counterparts. The cosolvent system prepared by homogenous mixi...

The use of an inorganic phase in water-in-oil microemulsions has received considerable attention for preparing metal particles. This is a new technique, which allows preparation of ultrafine metal particles within the size range 5 nm<particle diameter<50 nm. This article presents a review of the current literature in the field of particle preparation of several metals such as silver, copper, ca...

BACKGROUND Similar to lipid emulsion propofol, microemulsion propofol also causes a high incidence of pain during intravenous injection. Various methods have been used to minimize the incidence and severity of pain on injection of lipid emulsion propofol. In this study, we investigated the effect of a lidocaine mixture on pain induced by microemulsion propofol injection, and sought to determine...

Most drugs cannot be given orally because of significant degradation in the GIT or first pass metabolism in the liver. Nasal route for the delivery of some drugs offers an alternative in the pharmaceutical industry. The present review deals with the utility of the nasal route for the delivery of drugs to the brain as a microemulsion system in the treatment of a number of ailments like migraine,...

We have prepared a viscous bicontinuous microemulsion consisting of water / [20 wt% POE-GIS + 30 wt% PEPTME + 47.5 wt% POE/POP-PDMS + 2.5 wt% OA)] / DMPS system. A pseudoternary phase diagram was constructed for the mixture, and the bicontinuous microemulsion phase was characterized by means of rheometry and freeze-fracture transmission electron microscopy (FF-TEM).

The removal of model pollutants bromocresol green (BG) and phenol from water is demonstrated via two liquid-liquid extraction methods. Both methods exploit selective interactions established by the pollutant molecule with a surfactant, oil, or alcohol, and are variants of the more general Winsor systems where the phases are in contact along an extremely large interfacial area. In the first meth...

Nasal application of benzodiazepines might be an alternative to intravenous administration in acute clinical situations such as seizures emergencies. However, irritation and pain as well as symptoms like teary eyes, dizziness, discomfort, nasal drainage and bad taste usually accompany subject received midazolam and diazepam via the nasal route. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use ...
