Thai people living along the Chi River Basin (CRB), an important river for economic and social development of the Northeast of Thailand, have long been affected by both flood and drought. These problems have not yet been solved due to a lack of knowledge sharing between responsible organizations and researchers who are the experts on CRB to monitor and control the water condition. The knowledge...

Bed-load transport is effective on river bed stability and Morphology. Therefore, modeling this phenomenon is very important in the field of hydraulics engineering. Bed-load transport occurs by saltation at low to medium shear stress and by sheet-flow at high shear stress. In the present paper, the hydrodynamics of transport in thesaltationand sheet-flow regimes under unidirectional flow is stu...

Different approaches allowing the prediction of pollutant transport in rivers have attracted a great deal of attention among scientists throughout the world. Unfortunately, the prerequisite for running most of the proposed models is the detailed information about the hydraulic and morphometric conditions of the considered river. Even when the simplest advection-diffusion model is planned to be ...

A reassortant, TyRh, was isolated after coinfection of MA104 cells with avian Ty-1 and simian RRV rotaviruses. Hybridization and serological studies showed that the reassortant's 4th gene, which encodes Vp4, was derived from the simian RRV rotavirus parent, whereas the remaining 10 genes were derived from the avian Ty-1 rotavirus parent.

Beat-to-beat variability of the QT interval (QTV) is sought to provide an indirect noninvasive measure of sympathetic nerve activity, but a formal quantification of this relationship has not been provided. In this study we used power contribution analysis to study the relationship between QTV and muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA). ECG and MSNA were recorded in 10 healthy subjects in the ...

In support of a large, combined Australia-United States of America military exercise at Shoalwater Bay in south-eastern Queensland during March 1997 (TANDEM THRUST 97), the United States Navy sent the Deployed Public Health Laboratory (DPHL) into the field with the forces. The purpose of this was preventative medicine as well as disease and vector surveillance. Among the numerous potential thre...

Fresh water samples at three sites in Nile River (NR1, NR2 and NR3) and two sites in Esmailia canal (E1 and E2) in Egypt were collected. Concentrations of soluble and particulate phases of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nitrated derivatives (NPAHs) were determined by using HPLC with florescence detection and HPLC with chemilumnecence detection, respectively. The total average conce...

Abstract The Kintaikyo Bridge, with its elegant wooden arches, has a unique pier shape and continues to be loved by residents visitors alike. Although this bridge is an active footbridge important landscape element along the Nishikigawa River river beach, rationality or irrationality of piers remains unknown. This paper intended clarify engineering characteristics for first time conducting 1/12...
