The finite-Reynolds-number three-dimensional flow in a channel bounded by one and two parallel porous walls is studied numerically. The porous medium is modelled by spheres in a simple cubic arrangement. Detailed results on the flow structure and the hydrodynamic forces and couple acting on the sphere layer bounding the porous medium are reported and their dependence on the Reynolds number illu...

A dynamic porous coordination network with a hydrophobic channel was assembled from stretchable 1D metallosalen polymer, which has the ability to recognize and, particularly, separate aromatic hydrocarbons from aliphatic mixtures with high selectivity.

The UK's recent move to polymer banknotes has seen some of the currently used fingermark enhancement techniques for currency potentially become redundant, due to the surface characteristics of the polymer substrates. Possessing a non-porous surface with some semi-porous properties, alternate processes are required for polymer banknotes. This preliminary investigation explored the recovery of fi...

In this paper, formation of a nanostructure semi transparence fluoride tin oxides (FTO) by spray pyrolysis technique on porous silicon PS layer. Porous silicon PS layer was prepared by anodization of p-type silicon wafers to fabricate of the UVVisible Fluoride-doped tin oxide /Porous silicon /p-Si heterojunction photodetector. Optical properties of FTO thin films were measured. The optical band...

In this work multiple scattering by an array of perforated cylindrical shells with a porous core has been investigated. A semi-analytical model to predict scattering from such cylindrical units is presented in the context of the multiple scattering theory (MST), and validated against laboratory experiments. The suggested semi-analytical multiple scattering model uses an impedance expression to ...

for better understanding the effect of nanofluid flow in a porous medium, a set of experiments were conducted on a horizontal glass micromodel for al2o3-water nanofluids. to characterize the flow of nanofluids the same experiment was done by pure water. the glass micromodel was constructed by a photolithography technique. the al2o3-water nanofluids were produced by a two-step method and no surf...

In multi-channel wireless networks, multi-channel diversity can increase the number of concurrent transmissions and thus improve the throughput performance as data transmission on a wireless channel does not interfere with transmissions on the other non-overlapping channels. However, multi-channel coordination may cause severe performance degradation due to hidden terminals, missing receivers, ...

Signal-Perturbation-Free Semi-Blind Channel Estimation forMIMO-OFDM Systems Feng Wan, Ph.D.Concordia University, 2009 Multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) has been considered as a strong candidate for the beyond 3G (B3G) wirelesscommunication systems, due to its high data-rate wireless transmission performance. It is well known...

Models for multiphase-multicomponent flow in porous media are described in systems of PDEs. Solving them using finite difference discretization method can be of three ways; explicit, semi-implicit, and fully implicit. In this study, we present the implementation of an adaptive Newton-Raphson method in the context of IMPECS (Implicit Pressures Explicit Concentrations and Saturations) method of s...

In this paper we investigate the similarity solutions of a plane mixed convection boundary layer flow near a semi-vertical plate, with a prescribed power law function of the distance from the leading edge for the temperature, that is embedded in a porous medium. We show the existence and uniqueness of convex and concave solutions for positive values of the power law exponent.
