Silver-catalyzed tandem acetalization and cycloisomerization reactions were found to lead to various furoquinolines, and a nitrogen effect was noticed for AgOTf reactivity, since the cyclization mode switched from 6-endo-dig to 5-exo-dig; from these observations silver imidazolate polymer is proposed as a stable silver catalyst.

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs)-based nanowire (NW) waveguides demonstrate promising potentials in the integrated nanophotonic circuits and devices. The realization of controlling SPPs propagation in NWs is significant for the performance of nanophotonic devices when employed for special function. In this work, we report the effect of symmetry breaking degrees on SPPs propagation behavior in ...

The metal-binding properties of rationally designed, synthetic proteins were used to prepare a series of emissive silver nanoclusters having predictable sizes and emission energies. Metal-binding α-helical coiled coils were designed to exist as peptide trimers, tetramers, and hexamers and found to uniquely bind 6, 8, and 12 Ag(+) ions, respectively. Subsequent treatment with a chemical reducing...

Objective-The objective of this study was to compare effects of olive oil and lime water combination with silver sulfadiazine in third-degree burn healing. Design-Randomized experimental study. Animals-Sixty-three adult male Bulb/C mice weighing25±5 gr. Procedures-The mice were anesthetized with an intraperitoneal injection of ketamine 10% and xylazine 2% combination and the t...

Silver complexes of poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers as well as different {silver−PAMAM} dendrimer nanocomposite solutions have been tested in vitro against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli bacteria, using the standard agar overlay method. Both PAMAM silver salts and nanocomposites displayed considerable antimicrobial activity without the loss of solubility...

Most intravascular catheter-related infections are associated with central venous catheters. Technologic advances shown to reduce the risk for these infections include a catheter hub containing an iodinated alcohol solution, short-term chlorhexidine-silver sulfadiazine- impregnated catheters, minocycline-rifampin-impregnated catheters, and chlorhexidine- impregnated sponge dressings. Nontechnol...

In the recent paper on an improved technique for renal biopsies, Meadows and Schoemaker (1970) describe the use of a special wax to give fine sections at 1-2,.u. They illustrate their excellent results with Jones's silver technique. In this laboratory, however, difficulty was experienced with their use of ammoniacal ethanol and as we, in agreement with Eastham and Essex (1969), believe that the...

The transport properties of films assembled from metal nanoclusters can be significantly different from the metals in their bulk or thin film forms due to quantum confinement effects and several competing energy and length scales. For a film composed of metal nanoclusters as its building blocks, the cluster size and the inter-cluster separation are parameters that can be varied experimentally. ...

Novel luminescent silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) were synthesized utilizing DNA as templates by a simple, rapid and one-pot procedure. Luminescence studies indicated that these DNA-AgNCs exhibited strong emission with peak maximum at 624 nm. The fluorescence of the DNA-AgNCs was found to be quenched by Cu(2+) enabling its detection with high sensitivity and selectivity.

Carbon black dispersions are superior to the best commercial silver and ceramic particle thermal pastes for providing high thermal contact conductance across mating surfaces that are smooth (0.05 lm). For mating surfaces that are rough (15 lm), the combined use of carbon black and silver is more effective than carbon, silver or ceramic pastes. The use of a silver paste to even out the rough sur...
