Adaptation to motion produces a motion aftereffect (MAE), where illusory, oppositely-directed motion is perceived when viewing a stationary image. A common hypothesis for motion adaptation is that it reflects an imbalance of activity caused by neuronal fatigue. However, the perceptual MAE exhibits storage, in that the MAE appears even after a prolonged period of darkness is interposed between t...

Service-oriented Multi-Agent Systems (SoMAS) is an approach to combine the fundamental characteristics of service-oriented and multi-agent methods into a new platform for industrial automation. Several research works already targeted the connection of these technologies, presenting different perspectives in how and why to join them. This research focuses on available efforts and solutions in th...

This article proposes that any dialect-neutral screening test should consist of two parts: one part using contrastive items to screen for Language Variation Status (Mainstream American English [MAE] or a degree of variation from MAE), and a second part using noncontrastive items to screen for degree of risk for language disorder (low, medium, or high). The two scores are interpreted together in...

Although second-order motion may be detected by early and automatic mechanisms, some models suggest that perceiving second-order motion requires higher-order processes, such as feature or attentive tracking. These types of attentionally mediated mechanisms could explain the motion aftereffect (MAE) perceived in dynamic displays after adapting to second-order motion. Here we tested whether there...

In this paper, we show our current work on our Non Self Organizing Multi Agent System (NonSOMAS) and Self Organizing Multi Agent System (SOMAS). Through experiments and analysis, we investigate how Self-Organized Criticality (SOC) phenomena arise in SOMAS rather than in NonSOMAS. Furthermore, we compare the order of agent performance in the two systems and explain its implications.

Culham, Jody C., Sean P. Dukelow, Tutis Vilis, Frank A. Hasmotion appears for an additional period only slightly shorter sard, Joseph S. Gati, Ravi S. Menon, and Melvyn A. Goodale. than the original duration, suggesting that the decay of the Recovery of fMRI activation in motion area MT following storage MAE does not necessarily proceed automatically with the of the motion aftereffect. Hyperlactatemia and unmeasured anions (UMA) have been suggested to be useful predictors of outcomes after pediatric cardiac surgery in the ICU. However, if we detect high-risk patient in the operating room, we could practice early intervention to decrease mortality and morbidity. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the intraoperative lactate or UMA levels can predict adverse ou...

Adaptation to orthogonal transparent patterns drifting at the same speed produces a unidirectional motion aftereffect (MAE) whose direction is opposite the average adaptation direction. If the patterns move at different speeds, MAE direction can be predicted by an inverse vector average, using the observer's motion sensitivity to each individual pattern as vector magnitudes. These weights are w...

The mass absorption efficiency (MAE) of elemental carbon (EC) in Beijing was quantified using a thermaloptical carbon analyzer. The MAE measured at 632 nm was 8.45±1.71 and 9.41±1.92 m2 g−1 during winter and summer respectively. The daily variation of MAE was found to coincide with the abundance of organic carbon (OC), especially the OC to EC ratio, perhaps due to the enhancement by coating wit...
