The Co(II) atom in the title monomeric Schiff base complex, [CoCl(2)(C(21)H(22)N(2))], is bonded to two Cl atoms and to two N atoms of the Schiff base ligand N,N'-bis-[(E)-3-phenyl-prop-2-en-1-yl-idene]propane-1,3-diamine in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The mol-ecule has an idealised mirror symmetry, but is not located on a crystallographic mirror plane.
High-resolution X-ray crystallographic studies of bacteriorhodopsin have tremendously advanced our understanding of this light-driven ion pump during the last 2 years, and emphasized the crucial role of discrete internal water molecules in the pump cycle. In the extracellular region an extensive three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network of protein residues and seven water molecules leads from t...
In the title compound, C(17)H(15)N(3)O(2)·C(2)H(6)O, Schiff base molecules are linked by a hydr-oxy-amido hydrogen bond into a helical chain running along the b axis. This chain is consolidated by two other hydrogen bonds; the ethanol solvent mol-ecule is a hydrogen-bond donor to the amide group and a hydrogen-bond acceptor for the indolyl NH group of an adjacent Schiff base mol-ecule.
In the title compound, C(15)H(14)N(2)O(3)·H(2)O, the Schiff base mol-ecule is approximately planar, with a dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings of 10.2 (3)°. The mol-ecular structure is stabilized by O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal structure, the Schiff base and water mol-ecules are linked together by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains parallel to the a...
The title complex, [ZnBr(2)(C(11)H(17)N(3))], is a mononuclear zinc(II) compound derived from the Schiff base N-propyl-N'-(1-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-idene)ethane-1,2-diamine. The Zn(II) atom is five-coordinate, binding to the imine N, pyridine N, and amine N atoms of the Schiff base ligand and to two bromide anions in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. Adjacent mol-ecules are li...
The title compound, [Al(CH(3))(2)(C(29)H(39)N(2)O(2))], exhibits disorder of one of the tert-butyl groups on the Schiff base ligand, where each methyl group is located over two sites, with occupancy factors of 0.57 (1) and 0.43 (1). The geometry around the Al(III) atom is distorted tetra-hedral, defined by two methyl groups, one N and one O atom from the Schiff base ligand.
In the title complex, [CuLu(C(19)H(20)N(2)O(4))(NO(3))(3)]·CH(3)COCH(3), the Cu(II) ion is four-coordinated in a square-planar geometry by two O atoms and two N atoms from the deprotonated Schiff base. The Lu(III) ion is ten-coordinate, chelated by three nitrate groups and linked to the four O atoms of the deprotonated Schiff base. A mol-ecule of acetone is present as a solvate.
In the title complex, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(13)H(11)N(3)O)(2)], the Co(II) centre adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry with two cis-bidentate Schiff base ligands and two cis thio-cyanate ligands. The Schiff base ligand coordinates via the imine N and pyridine N atoms. The Co(II) atom lies on a crystallographic twofold rotational axis. Non-classical inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds l...
A total of three new silicon (IV) complexes of Schiff base have been synthesized by the reaction of silicon tetrachloride with Schiff base ligands L1 (C16H16N2O2), L2 (C14H12N2O2) and L3 (C13H11NO2).The complexes obtained were characterized qualitatively and quantitatively by using micro-elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy. From the spectral studies we could con...
In the title mononuclear Schiff base copper(II) complex, [Cu(C(12)H(16)BrN(2)O)(NCS)], the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms and one O atom from a Schiff base ligand, and by one N atom from a thio-cyanate anion, giving a square-planar geometry. There are long-range inter-actions between the Cu atom and S [3.151 (5) Å] and Br [3.929 (5) Å] atoms above and below the square plane.
