A model for the Scanning Laser Source (SLS) technique is presented. The SLS is a novel laser based inspection method for the ultrasonic detection of small surfacebreaking cracks. The generated ultrasonic signal is monitored as a line-focused laser is scanned over the defect. Characteristic changes in the amplitude and the frequency content are observed. The modeling approach is based on the dec...

We consider an inhomogeneous thermoelastic system with second sound in one space dimension where the coe cients are spaceand time-dependent. For Dirichlet-Neumann type boundary conditions the global existence of smooth solutions is proved by using the theory of Kato. Then the asymptotic behavior of the solutions is discussed.

In previous work, a series of theoretical considerations have been made aimed at identifying the source and assessing prominent factors influencing the thermoelastic response from laminated composites. In this paper four different methods of interpreting the data are investigated and the theoretical thermoelastic response is compared to experimental data to identify the source of the thermoelas...

We study a nonlinear transmission problem for a plate which consists of thermoelastic and isothermal parts. The problem generates a dynamical system in a suitable Hilbert space. Main result is the proof of asymptotic smoothness of this dynamical system and existence of a compact global attractor in special cases.

Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) is widely used for structural members of transportation vehicles such as automobile, aircraft, or spacecraft, utilizing its excellent specific strength and specific rigidity in contrast with the metal. Short carbon fiber composite materials are receiving a lot of attentions because of their excellent moldability and productivity, however they show complica...

A new theory of two-temperature generalized thermoelasticity is constructed in the context of a new consideration of dual-phase-lag heat conduction with fractional orders. The theory is then adopted to study thermoelastic interaction in an isotropic homogenous semi-infinite generalized thermoelastic solids with variable thermal conductivity whose boundary is subjected to thermal and mechanical ...

An asymptotic model for time-harmonic motion in fully-coupled linear thermoelastic orthorhombic materials is presented. The approach takes advantage of the observation that parameter expressing departure from purely adiabatic regime extremely small practice. Consequently, leading order bulk response turns out to be non-dissipative, and governed by usual equations elastodynamics with material co...

The thermoelastic stress analysis for linear thermoelastic bodies is developed as a mathematical support to the infra-red radiometric method (SPATE) applied to structures under cyclic loading conditions.

A linear system of differential equations describing a joint motion of thermoelastic porous body and thermofluid occupying porous space is considered. Although the problem is linear, it is very hard to tackle due to the fact that its main differential equations involve non-smooth oscillatory coefficients, both big and small, under the differentiation operators. The rigorous justification, under...
