We consider users bidding in a series of multi-unit sealed-bid auctions, aiming at reserving the same amount of units of the resource auctioned, e.g. transmission slots in a wireless network. Each user attains from each successful allocation of resource units an instant marginal utility that depends on his history of resource allocation. The user’s bid at each auction equals this marginal utili...

The case histories are described of four brothers who suffered attacks of transient global amnesia. Transient global amnesia (TGA) is characterized by anterograde memory disturbance of sudden onset that lasts for 1 to 24 hours. Orientation in space and time is impaired while consciousness remains undisturbed. Transient global amnesia (TGA) is an episodic dysfunction of declarative memory that usually resolves within 12 hours and whose underlying pathophysiological mechanisms are still unclear. Recent studies, on the basis of transient focal high-signal abnormalities in the hippocampus on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), suggest involvement of memory circuits in the temporo-mesial region. Out of a t...

PURPOSE Transient global amnesia (TGA) patients were retrospectively reviewed to determine the usefulness of high-field strength MRI in detecting probable ischemic lesions in TGA. MATERIALS AND METHODS We investigated the lesion detection rate in patients with TGA using 1.5T and 3.0T MRI. Acute probable ischemic lesions were defined as regions of high-signal intensity in diffusion weighted im...
