In order to reach satisfactory performance, fault diagnosis methods require the tuning of internal parameters, usually called hyperparameters. This is generally achieved by optimizing a performance criterion, typically a trade-off between false-alarm and non-detection rates. Perturbations should also be taken into account, for instance by considering the worst possible case. A new method to ach...

Matlab-SIMULINK based real time temperature control of oven using different kinds of auto-tuning PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) methods is presented in this paper. Ziegler Nichols Step Response Method (P,PI), Relay Tuning Method (P,PI) and Integral Square Time Error (ISTE) disturbance criterion (PI) method are used to control temperature of the experiment set. Controller parameters are ...

A new method for PID controller tuning based on process models for cascaded control systems is proposed in this paper. The method consists of first finding the ideal controller that gives the desired closed loop response and then finding the PID approximation of the ideal controller by Maclaurin series. This method can be applied to any open loop stable processes. Furthermore, it enables us to ...

Self-tuning adaptive control technique has the advantage of being able to track the system operating conditions so that satisfactory control action can always be produced. Self-tuning algorithms can be implemented easily. Because the power systems are usually time varying non-linear systems and their parameters vary, adaptive controllers are very suitable for power systems. Characteristics of a...

This paper is based on PID tuning approach using traditional Ziegler-Nichols tuning method with the help of simulation aspects. The most important reason behind this PID tuning approach is due to its simple control structure and satisfactory results. Nowadays there are various optimization techniques like Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Bacterial Forging Optimization(BFO),Genetic Algorithm(GA)...

In this paper a new type of neural networks known as Least Squares Support Vector Machines which gained a huge fame during the recent years for identification of nonlinear systems has been used to identify DC motor with nonlinear dead zone characteristics. The identified system after linearization in each time span, in an online manner provide the model data for Model Predictive Controller of p...

The paper presents a simple method of tuning a PD controller for controlling the depth of an autonomous underwater vehicle. The non-linear dynamics of the depth of the vehicle are linearised and approximated as an integrating process with deadtime. The PD controller tuning is then done using gain margin specifications. Keywords—Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, Dead-time, integrating process, PD c...

In this paper we present a new self-tuning procedure for PID controllers based on neuro-predictive control. A finite horizon optimal control problem is solved on-line, permitting to calculate the tuning parameters of the PID controller. The proposed method is implemented on a level-flow pilot plant and a comparison with conventional auto-tuning methods is also given.

The Multilevel Fast Multipole Algorithm (MLFMA) has gained considerable attention for its ability to reduce the computational complexity of matrix-vector multiplies arising in the integral equation-based iterative solution of electromagnetic scattering problems. The MLFMA evaluates fields due to known source constellations comprising N discrete sources in a hierarchical framework that requires ...

Automatic Tuning for Linearly Tunable Filters. (May 2004) Sung-Ling Huang, B.S., Tatung Institute of Technology, Taiwan; M.S., Tatung Institute of Technology, Taiwan Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Aydin I. Karsilayan A new tuning scheme for linearly tunable high-Q filters is proposed. The tuning method is based on using the phase information for both frequency and Q factor tuning. There is no...
