Infrared spectra of complexes of small vanadium oxide clusters with ethene are determined using infrared multiple photon dissociation (IR-MPD) spectroscopy in the range of 550-1850 cm-1. The structures of the complexes have been identified by comparison of the experimental spectra with the harmonic vibrational frequencies and corresponding IR intensities of possible isomers calculated with DFT ...

A multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) sponge network, coated by ALD V(2)O(5), presents the key characteristics needed to serve as a high-performance cathode in Li-ion batteries, exploiting (1) the highly electron-conductive nature of MWCNT, (2) unprecedented uniformity of ALD thin film coatings, and (3) high surface area and porosity of the MWCNT sponge material for ion transport. The core/shell ...

In this study, the performance and reaction location in a VRFB was investigated with a carbon paper electrode that was modified to include a thin layer of multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The nanotube layer was introduced into the electrode at locations on the negative and positive electrode nearest the membrane and nearest the flow field. Results with the nanotube layer on the positive electrode...

The title compound, [V(2)F(2)O(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], is a centrosymmetric binuclear vanadium(V) species with the metal ions in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The symmetry-equivalent V(V) atoms exhibit coordination geometries defined by cis-terminal fluoride and oxide groups, unsymmetrically bridging oxide groups and the N-atom donors of the phenanthroline ligands. The crystal packing is ...

The title compound, [V(2)F(2)O(4)(C(10)H(8)N)(2)], is a centrosymmetric binuclear vanadium(V) species with the metal ions in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The coordination geometries of the symmetry-equivalent V(V) atoms are defined by cis-terminal fluoride and oxide groups, unsymmetrically bridging oxide groups and the N-atom donors of the bipyridyl ligand. The crystal packing is stabil...

Carbon nanotube–metal–oxide composites (metal=Fe, Co or Fe/Co alloy; oxide=Al2O3, MgO or MgAl2O4) have been prepared by hot-pressing the corresponding composite powders, in which the carbon nanotubes, mostly single or double-walled, are very homogeneously dispersed between the metal–oxide grains. For the sake of comparison, ceramic and metal–oxide nanocomposites have also been prepared. The mic...

V(2)O(5) nanofilms (NFs) uniformly distributed on N-doped carbon nanotubes (CNTs) exhibit significantly stable capacitive performance; the synthesized composites are promising as an instantaneous power supply in consumer electronics or electrical vehicles.

Polypyrrole (PPy) nanotubes with highly uniform surface and tunable wall thickness were fabricated by one-step vapor deposition polymerization (VDP) using anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) template membranes, and transformed into carbon nanotubes through a carbonization process.

Synthesis of clean double-walled carbon nanotubes by a catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) method is reported; the catalyst is a Mg(1 - x)Co(x)O solid solution containing additions of Mo oxide; this MgO-based catalyst can be easily removed, leading to gram-scale amounts of clean carbon nanotubes, 77% of which are double-walled carbon nanotubes.
