Ranking and selecting projects is a relatively common, yet often difficult task. It is complicated because there is usually more than one dimension for measuring the impact of each project and more than one decision maker. This paper considers a real application of project selection for ECNZ, Northern Generation, using an approach called ELECTRE. The ELECTRE method has several unique features n...

This note discusses the properties of the asymmetric part of an outranking relation a la ELECTRE. Such relations have been used in the pseudodisjunctive version of ELECTRE TRI-B. We show that they have properties that are somewhat di erent from the ones of outranking relations. Indeed, contrary to outranking relations, they allow to have at the same time veto and bonus e ects. We suggest that t...

Many real-world decision problems involve conflicting systems of criteria, uncertainty and imprecise information. Some also involve a group of decision makers (DMs) where a reduction of different criteria decisions by making the process more explicit, rational and efficient. One family of MCDA models uses what is known as ‘‘outranking relations’’ to rank a set of actions. The Electre method and...

In this short paper, the Electre Tri-Machine Learning Method, generally used to solve ordinal classification problems, is proposed for solving the Record Linkage problem. Preliminary experimental results show that, using the Electre Tri method, high accuracy can be achieved and more than 99% of the matches and nonmatches were correctly identified by the procedure.

In the multicriteria strategic planning of an organization, management should often be aware of employees’ resistance to change before making new decisions; otherwise, a chosen strategy, though technologically acceptable, may not be efficient in the long term. This paper, using a sample case study within an organization, shows how different versions of ELECTRE methods can be used in choosing ef...

Decision making is a common process in human activities. Every person or organization needs to make decisions besides dealing with uncertainty and vagueness associated with human cognition. The theory of fuzzy logic provides a mathematical base to model the uncertainities. Hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (HFLTS) creates an appropriate method to deal with uncertainty in decision making. Manag...

In the literature on MCDM, many methods have been proposed in order to sort alternatives evaluated on several attributes into ordered categories. Most of them were proposed on an ad hoc basis. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to a recent trend of research aiming at giving these methods sound theoretical foundations. Using tools from conjoint measurement, we provide an axiomatic analys...

This paper presents Electre Tri-nC, a new sorting method which takes into account several reference actions for characterizing each category. This new method gives a particular freedom to the decision maker in the co-construction decision aiding process with the analyst to characterize the set of categories, while there is no constraint for introducing only one reference action as typical of ea...

Multiple Criteria Sorting Problem consists in assigning a set of alternatives A"Ma 1 , a 2 ,2, l evaluated on n criteria g 1 , g 2 ,2, n to one of the categories which are pre-de"ned by some norms corresponding to vectors of scores on particular criteria, called pro"les, either separating the categories or playing the role of central reference objects in the categories. The assignment of an alt...
