this study investigated the potential role of age in inductive and deductive grammar learning among iranian foreign language learners. the experimental population consisted of our randomly selected samples including two groups of children (with age of exposure to english within 8-13), and two groups of adults (with age of exposure to english within 11-13). thus, the comparison was between children before the age of puberty and adults passed the age of puberty. however, both groups had started learning english before their puberties. a number of statistical analyses were employed to see which of the two inductive or deductive methods of teaching grammar suited which group better. in so doing, attempts were made to ensure that any changes in the performance between the pretest and post-test were due to the factors introduced above. the results are presented, and the reasons are discussed.
