abstract: the present study is about prophet ishmael, some parts of his life; his personality in the quran and the bible; and the comparison of the content of these two religious books. compilation of the study has been done with a new perspective and new presentation approach. since prophets have been human beings’ role model and their life has been a perfect example for humanity in all ages, addressing this issue is necessary. also it should be mentioned that because in the bible specially the old testament, a different kind of description of the divine prophets has been presented, the present study has attempted to discuss and investigate the charges against prophet ishmael,and thento compare them with the qurans ‘s content and islamic narratives , and also with the interpretations; books of prophets history; and stories of quran, and at the end to purify the prophet from all the charges.therefore, due to the fact that there have been only a very few short, brief studies about prophetishmael, and they have been limited to tellinghis life story in the interpretations, and books containing stories of quran, prophets, and history, we consider this issue independently, particularly comparatively; referring to the holy quran,and using the narratives and interpretations and other books in this regard. key words:holy quran, bible, ishmael, ibrahim, slaughtering.
