abstract: one of the most visited & important spaces in different countries by tourist are urban areas. the old tehran which major part is located in district 12 is historical showcase of the capital, but, its hiidden cultural attraction is not used as it should be. this thesis occasionally engage in studying the efficacy of correct installation of travel guide boards in welfare & easily accessing of tourists (in dist. 12 of tehran city) for the purpose of presenting tourism desirable services. one of the most important used methods in this thesis is "descriptive-analysis case-field type". numbers of 150 tourists as statistical sample size were evaluated through simple random & systematic random sampling methods. analysis of acquired data from questionnaire by using statistical techniques (in spss software environment) in descriptive statistics part, comparison of percentage distribution graphs & also inferential analysis by using chi-square test was performed. acquired results from analysis of questionnaires, laboratory information of research which contains weak & strong points of dist. 12 of tehran city, existence problems & also suitable opportunities toward development of areas tourism were studied and summarized in the form of swot model. achieved results from hypotheses in this research are as below: hypothesis 1: it seems that there is a relation between correct installation of travel guide boards in specific routes & areas for tourism in historical center of tehran city, easily access, attractiveness and desirability increase for tourists. with due regard that chi-square amount between variables of correct installation of travel guide boards & attractiveness and desirability increase for tourists is x = 60.43 & the observed meaningful level pvalue = 0.00 is less than 0.05. therefore, our hypothesis based on meaningfulness of relation between two variables with level of confidence 0.95 & error probability amount 0.05 is proved. hypothesis 2: it seems that there is a relation between supplementary boards of travel routes guide in district 12 & efficacy of tourists easy access to travel services. with due regard that chi-square amount between variables of supplementary boards of travel routes guide & efficacy of tourists easy access to travel services is x2 = 1.89 & the observed meaningful level pvalue = 0.099 is more than 0.05. therefore, our hypotheses based on meaningfulness of relation between these two variables are not being proved. hypothesis 3: it seems that there is a relation between positioning of tourism boards, easy access & flowing of roadway routes ended to recreational and historical areas. with due regard that chi-square amount between variables of increase the positioning of tourism boards & flowing of roadway routes from statistical point of view is meaningful. whereas, its amount is x2 = 193.5 & the observed meaningful level is pvalue = 0.000 and is less than 0.05. therefore, our hypothesis based on meaningfulness of relation between these two above mentioned variables with level of confidence 0.95 & error probability amount 0.05 are proved. finally, correct installation of travel guide boards in district 12 of tehran city as one of the most easily access methods of tourists in urban historic areas & tourist attraction were studied. this research while introduction & recognition of tourism & historic potentials of district 12 has new look to using & revival of historic fabric of tehran toward development of tourism.
