today, information technology and computers are indispensable tools of any profession and translation technologies have become an indispensable part of translator’s workstation. with the increasing demands for high productivity and speed as well as consistency and with the rise of new demands for translation and localization, it is necessary for translators to be familiar with market demands and learn how to respond accordingly. although many undergraduate translator training programs all over the world have recognized the need to include translation technologies in their curricula, these technologies, due to the outdated translation curricula in iranian universities, are almost completely missing from the translator training programs in iran. in this study, through a three phase research plan, the possible way of integration these technologies into iranian translation programs were investigated. to this end the results of familiarity with translation technologies questionnaire, a focus group interview with a group of iranian translation students, an introductory course to a tm software and the review of a series of world level translation programs were used as insight into how these tools could be introduced into iranian translator training programs. based on the results of this study and the very low level of familiarity with translation technologies among translation students and graduates, it is recommended that computer science and translation technologies be introduced in the initial and final years of iranian translation programs, respectively. also, three courses were suggested which can be used as a basis for a syllabus design in translation technology.
