growing demands and requires of high data rate systems cause significant increase of high frequency systems for wideband communication applications. as mixers are one of the main blocks of each receivers and its performance has great impact on receiver’s performance; in this thesis, a new solution for ku-band (12-18 ghz) mixer design in tsmc 0.18 µm is presented. this mixer has high linearity and low power consumption and also has appropriate noise figure and conversion gain. in order to improve linearity, post distortion cancellation technique is used. in this technique, the third-order intermodulation of transconductance stage is reduced by adding an auxiliary pmos transistor biased in saturation region in each side of mixer. the effectiveness of the proposed technique is studied by the volterra series and simulation. moreover, to obtain suitable noise figure and conversion gain, an extra inductor is added between source nodes of switching transistors to decrease deteriorating effect of parasitic capacitances of source nodes. the effect of mentioned inductor on indirect flicker noise mechanism is studied. post distortion cancellation and inductor technique is used for conventional common-gate structure. its effectiveness is demonstrated by volterra series. at last, simulation result by ads simulator shows the conversion gain, noise figure and linearity enhancement compared with conventional case.
