A recent paper described a new machine translation evaluation metric, AMBER. This paper describes two changes to AMBER. The first one is incorporation of a new ordering penalty; the second one is the use of the downhill simplex algorithm to tune the weights for the components of AMBER. We tested the impact of the two changes, using data from the WMT metrics task. Each of the changes by itself i...

A new Turonian amber occurrence, representing the oldest in situ amber locality in Australia and the southern-most locality in Gondwana, has recently been discovered in the Otway Basin of Victoria. The amber was collected from petroleum cores and many pieces contain a range of inclusions that can provide information on the depositional history of the resin. To date, one species of fern spore (C...

Polycentropodidae constitute 55.6% of Taimyr amber caddisfly species with known males, and only 4.8% males in Kachin amber. Micro-caddisflies obviously dominate (Archaeopolycentra, Polycentropodidae), (Palerasnitsynus, Psychomyiidae) New Jersey (Hydroptilidae); both Psychomyiidae Hydroptilidae are absent amber, rare The domination was proposed as a new characteristics Baeomorpha Realm, their ra...

Health benefits including antioxidant potential of black tea (Camellia sinensis), lemon (Citrus limon) and honey bees (Apis mellifera) have been extensively reported. Nevertheless, nothing is reported about the effects of their concomitant use. Herein, those effects were evaluated in infusions of lemon-flavoured black tea with three different kinds of honey (light amber, amber and dark amber) f...

Physical properties of condensed-phase 1,3,3-trinitroazetidine (TNAZ) have been computed with molecular dynamics (MD) and a nonreactive, fully flexible force field formulated by combining the intramolecular interactions obtained from the Generalized AMBER Force Field and the rigid-molecule force field developed by Sorescu-Rice-Thompson [J. Phys. Chem. B 1997, 101, 798] (AMBER-SRT). The results ...

Of 313 motility-deficient mutants isolated from an LT2 his(amber) strain fixed in phase 1 by gene vh2(-), 25 regained motility when amber or ochre suppressors were introduced, in F' factors or by transduction. The fla mutants (23 amber, 1 ochre) fell in complementation groups A, B, C, F, K, a new group, M, and at least one further new group; the hypothesis of a fla gene which specifies only an ...

This paper proposes a new automatic machine translation evaluation metric: AMBER, which is based on the metric BLEU but incorporates recall, extra penalties, and some text processing variants. There is very little linguistic information in AMBER. We evaluate its system-level correlation and sentence-level consistency scores with human rankings from the WMT shared evaluation task; AMBER achieves...

Apparently ancient DNA has been reported from amber-preserved insects many millions of years old. Rigorous attempts to reproduce these DNA sequences from amber- and copal-preserved bees and flies have failed to detect any authentic ancient insect DNA. Lack of reproducibility suggests that DNA does not survive over millions of years even in amber, the most promising of fossil environments.

A revision of the genus Helius Lepeletier & Serville, 1828 (Diptera: Limoniidae) from Baltic amber (Eocene) is presented. Redescriptions of 5 species, Helius formosus Krzemiński, 1993, Helius linus Podenas, 2002, Helius minutus (Loew, 1850), Helius mutus Podenas, 2002, Helius pulcher (Loew, 1850) of this genus from Baltic amber are given and documented by photographs and drawings. Four new spec...
