We discuss several models for a flash-heat experiment in homogeneous isotropic media. We use these to investigate the use of homogenization techniques in approximating models for interrogation via flash-heating in porous materials. We represent porous materials as both randomly perforated domains and periodically perforated domains.

Nuclear magnetic relaxation is useful for probing physical and chemical properties of liquids in porous media. Examples are given on high surface area porous materials including calibrated porous silica glasses, granular packings, plaster pastes, cement-based materials and natural porous materials, such as sandstone and carbonate rocks. Here, we outline our recent NMR relaxation work for these ...

Lightweight porous ceramic materials that can recover their shapes after mechanical deformation have numerous applications. However, these types of materials tend to be highly fragile and often crack when compressed. Here, we report on the fabrication and characterization of highly porous, freestanding composites of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) of d...

The functional shape of a sorption isotherm is determined by underlying molecular interactions. However, doubts have been raised on whether the mechanism can be understood in principle from analyzing curves via range competing models. We shown recently that it possible to translate interactions rigorous statistical thermodynamics. aim this paper fill gap between thermodynamic theory and experim...

Zeolites due to their structures can be used as molecular sieves for purification of materials and solutions. Zeolites with PHI and SOD structure are so common and applicable for this purpose. Hydroxy sodalite and phillipsite are the more abundant members of zeolites which display good selectivity for very small molecules and some ions such as Sr, Pb, Zn, Cu and Rb. There is not any pure natura...
