in new management approaches, in the organizations with inflexible structure, existing of red tapes and interruptions caused by limitations and also non-compliance with environmental changes, create demotivation among staff. with regard to the influence of job motivational potential and its relationship to the type of organizational structure( enabling and dissuasive), the goal of this research is to examine job motivational potential and its relationship to the type of organizational structure of birjand university. method of this research regarding the purposes, is an applied method and regarding the plan, is a descriptive- correlational method. the population of the research consists of all the staffs (254) in birjand university in the year 2013, out of which 136 persons were chosen as the sample group by stratified sampling method based on the kerjesi and morgan`s table. in order to collect information, questionnaires of type of organizational structure (torkzadeh and mohtaram,2011) and staff job motivational potential (torkzadeh and zeinali,2012)were used which in this research their alpha were 0/81 and 0/69, respectively. results showed that predominant dimension of type of organizational structure in birjand university is dissuasive and there is no meaningful relationship between the enabling type of organizational structure and motivational potential. results also revealed that there is a meaningful relationship between type of dissuasive structure and job motivational potential and the most mean of motivational potential is related to the feed back (3/23) and the least mean is related to the identity (3/09) which is meaningful in the level 0/05. also, results of one-sided variance analysis test showed that the most mean (3/20) of enabling structure is related to the central organization and the least mean (2/8) is related to the engineering college and for comparing the groups, tuki post hoc test was used and results revealed that there is a meaningful difference between central organization and literature and with the mean difference (0/39) in a meaningful level (0/001).
