3-D azimuthal anisotropy structure reveals different deformation modes of the crust and upper mantle in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau

The tectonic evolution and deformation process of the southeastern Tibetan Plateau has been one focuses geoscience community in recent decades. However, crustal mantle mechanism is still under debate. Seismic anisotropy inferred from surface wave tomography could provide critical insights into Earth’s tectonosphere. Here, we constructed a 3-D azimuthal velocity model with Rayleigh phase dispersion data 132 permanent stations to analyze modes Plateau. In upper crust, near main strike-slip faults exhibits strong magnitude fast axis subparallel fault strike, which consistent rigid block extrusion pattern. mid-lower two low-velocity anomalies appeared beneath Sonpan-Ganzi Terrane Xiaojiang Fault zone anisotropy, may indicate ductile weak crust. are separated by high-velocity barrier inner Emeishan large igneous province. mantle, pattern relatively simple Yangtze Craton mainly represents fossil anisotropy. southern part, lithosphere thinned Indochina Cathaysia Blocks, plausibly caused upwelling lateral flows hot asthenospheric materials.
