Method A five-year review (June 2016-2021) local database referrals to Nutrition Support Team was performed. Pre-operative, operative post-operative data who received TPN did collected. Intestinal obstruction commonest indication at 51.3% 478) no difference age or sex. Despite receiving being more likely be frail (0.004), higher ASA scores (0.001), lower albumin levels (<0.001), worse pre- (both 0.002), stoma formation (0.002) (<0.001) half that without Sub-analysis reveals this irrespective when administered. Conclusions Two mutually exclusive explanations exist. may predictor disease severity subsequent clinical intervention, it indeed improve outcomes high EGS group. Further studies are needed clarify this, addition most appropriate method identifying malnutrition NELA-eligible patients.
