Analysis of Ultra-short Pulse Propagation in Nonlinear Optical Fiber
Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide have received a great deal of attention in the recent years. O...
متن کاملA Multi-resolution Optical Flow Based Approach to Respiratory Motion Correction in 3D PET/CT Images
The problem of motion in PET/CT studies results from the fact that the PET images are formed over an elongated period of time whereas the CT acquisition takes only a few seconds. Additionally, the CT images are also used for attenuation correction of the PET data. The spatial discrepancy between the two sets of images, however, may lead to wrong attenuation and thus to wrong quantification of t...
متن کاملNonlinear pulse propagation in optical fibers.
We discuss the propagation of nonlinear optical pulses in fibers. The wave equation is solved taking the radial dependence in an average way. The radius versus wavelength curves for "no dispersion" in SiO(2) glass are calculated and plotted. These no-dispersion curves separate the regions of light and dark solitons supported by the fibers.
متن کاملOptical pulse propagation in nonlinear photonic crystals.
We present a formalism for optical pulse propagation in nonlinear photonic crystals of arbitrary dimensionality. Using a multiple-scale analysis, we derive the dynamical nonlinear Schrödinger equation obeyed by the envelope function modulating an underlying Bloch function. Effective coefficients appear in that equation characterizing the effects of Kerr nonlinearity, linear gain or loss, and ma...
متن کاملPulse Propagation in Optical Fiber Using Wavelets
The propagation of optical pulses in a single mode fiber is analyzed by solving nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation numerically. The propagation is modeled using a split-step wavelet method, analogous to the split-step Fourier method, while retaining the advantages of the wavelet transform. Pulses and pulse sequences are accommodated with equal ease, as is frequency chirping of the light sourc...
