Fabrication of a 4 · 4 strictly nonblocking SOI switch matrix
A 4 · 4 strictly nonblocking thermo-optical switch matrix based on Mach–Zehnder (MZ) switching unit was designed and fabricated in silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer. The paired multi-mode interferometers (MMI) were used as power splitters and combiners in MZ structures. The device presents an average insertion loss of 17 dB and an average crosstalk of 16.5 dB. The power consumption needed for op...
متن کاملSilicon 1 × 2 Mode- and Polarization-selective Switch
We experimentally demonstrate an on-chip silicon 1×2 switch that routes 8 data channels on 4 modes and 2 polarizations. The insertion losses are < 8dB, and the crosstalk values are below -15dB. The 8 channels are tested with a 72-Gb/s signal. OCIS codes: (230.3120) Integrated Optics; (130.4815) Optical switching devices.

Address correspondence to [email protected] ABSTRACT In contrast to the static operations of conventional semiconductor devices, the dynamic conformational freedom in molecular devices opens up the possibility of using individual molecules as new types of devices such as a molecular conformational switch or for molecular data storage. Bistable molecules such as those having two stable c...
متن کاملHigh - Speed 2 2 Switch for Multiwavelength Silicon - Photonic Networks – On - Chip
We report the fabrication and experimental verification of a multiwavelength high-speed 2 2 silicon photonic switch for ultrahigh-bandwidth message routing in optical on-chip networks. The structure employs only two microring resonators in order to implement the bar and cross states of the switch. These states are toggled using an optical pump at 1.5m wavelengths inplane with the waveguide devi...
متن کاملMatrix-based Nonblocking Routing Algorithm for Beneš Networks
This paper presents a nonblocking routing algorithm for Beneš networks. Such networks are of potential interest in implementing large scale optical cross-connects, but their complex routing algorithm limits their applications. We use a simple approach to determine the routing tags for a conflict free routing. Available methods proposed in the literature use computationally complex solutions to ...
