A Comprehensive Survey on Islanding Detection Methods of Synchronous Generator-Based Microgrids: Issues, Solutions and Future Works

Nowadays, the penetration of distributed generations (DGs) and microgrids (MGs) has been significantly increased due to technical, social, environmental, financial reasons. One most common types DGs which is widely used in different networks small-scale synchronous generators (SSSGs). Synchronous-based (SGBMGs) SSSGs can operate under both grid-connected islanded conditions. To guarantee a stable, uninterruptible, safe autonomous operation, unintentional islanding events should be quickly detected then, appropriate control precaution actions performed. Various detection techniques have proposed two past decades including remote local methods. Meanwhile, methods divided into major groups, i.e. passive active select suitable scheme (IDS), various factors DG type its technology considered. Therefore, IDS for SGBMGs may completely from that inverter-based microgrids. In this paper, practically applied are comprehensively investigated. do so, at first, indices introduced properly employed by system engineers researchers compare one. Then, existing carefully investigated using these indices. Based on investigations, it concluded more their technical economic benefits. Moreover, enhance IDS, some ideas provided paper considered future research works.
