A computational point of view on teaching derivatives

چکیده
The strong connection between mathematics and informatics highlights the important role of scientific computing in many applications. Unfortunately, is traditionally taught without investigating possible connections abstract problem solving use algorithms capable being implemented on a computer. Since mathematical theory practice are separately, students fail to appreciate utility mathematics. In this paper, we briefly explain how typical lecture obtaining derivatives differential calculus can benefit from examples high-level languages like MATLAB, Python or R. Such help guide better understanding theoretical concepts limits finite precision floating-point arithmetic. We argue that, while historical findings Leibniz Newton good starting points for introducing difference approximation methods, does not preclude new approaches numerically using Infinite Computer Arithmetic.

A Computational View of Interior Point Methods
Many issues that are crucial for an e cient implementation of an interior point algorithm are addressed in this chapter. To start with, a prototype primaldual algorithm is presented. Next, many tricks that make it e cient in practice are discussed in detail. Those include: preprocessing techniques, initialization approaches, methods for computing search directions (and the underlying linear alg...
متن کاملNursing Students’ Point of View on Application of Team Member Teaching Design (TMTD)
Introduction: Teamwork is the ability of all team members in making an effective communication, predicting and meet their demands and making reassurance due to cooperative group activities. Based on this description, we need to know how we can prepare students for effective teamwork. Since some class work and most clinical practices are done through teamwork and this continues even after gradua...
متن کاملDesirability of two participatory methods of teaching, based on students' view point
Introduction: Teaching comes true at the presence of learner and learning. Teaching is not only transfer of information but also, it is an interaction between learner and teacher. Thus learner participation in teaching- learning process can be important and effective in learning. This study was performed to survey the effect of learner participation in teaching. Methods: This semi-experim...

Why should Law need automated proof systems? The answer to this question implies an answer to the following question: Is logic needed in Law? In fact it has been argued that logics are useless for Law (see, for example, Kelsen 1989). We believe that logic, and deontic logics in particular — but also modal logics — have a role to play in Law; for example if one wants to study what the relationsh...
