چکیده

The accuracy of two direct coupled two-step CFD/CAA methods is discussed. For the flow field either a finite-volume (FV) method for solution Navier–Stokes equations or lattice Boltzmann (LB) to discontinuous Galerkin (DG) acoustic perturbation equations. coupling takes advantage joint Cartesian mesh allowing exchange sources without MPI communication. An immersed boundary treatment scattering from solid bodies by novel wall formulation implemented and validated in DG method. Results case spinning vortex pair low Reynolds number unsteady around circular cylinder show that with comparable obtained direct-hybrid when using identical resolution.

Lattice Boltzmann-Langevin Equations

Intrinsic fluctuations around the solution of the lattice Boltzmann equation are described or modeled by addition of a white Gaussian noise source. For stationary states a fluctuation-dissipation theorem relates the variance of the fluctuations to the linearized Boltzmann collision operator and the pair correlation function.

A Fully Implicit Method for Lattice Boltzmann Equations

Existing approaches for solving the lattice Boltzmann equations with finite difference methods are explicit and semi-implicit; both have certain stability constraints on the time step size. In this work, a fully implicit second-order finite difference scheme is developed. We focus on a parallel, highly scalable, Newton–Krylov–RAS algorithm for the solution of a large sparse nonlinear system of ...

Flow acoustic simulations using the Lattice-Boltzmann method

The Lattice-Boltzmann method (LBM) for simulation of low Mach number flows is evaluated for the application in flow acoustics. By linearization and von-Neumann analysis quantitative measures for the accuracy of phase speed and attenuation of low amplitude sound waves in presence of a mean flow are derived. It is shown that only phase errors are relevant when simulating sound waves in the audibl...

Viscously damped acoustic waves with the lattice Boltzmann method.

Acoustic wave propagation in lattice Boltzmann Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook simulations may be analysed using a linearization method. This method has been used in the past to study the propagation of waves that are viscously damped in time, and is here extended to also study waves that are viscously damped in space. Its validity is verified against simulations, and the results are compared with theore...
