Hopf bifurcation in a dynamic IS-LM model with time delay
In this paper we investigate the impact of delayed tax revenues on the fiscal policy outcomes. Choosing the delay as a bi-furcation parameter we study the direction and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions. With respect to the delay we show when the system is stable. Some numerical examples are finally given for justifying the theoretical results.
متن کاملRelaxation oscillations in model sandpiles
We introduce a simple one-dimensional sandpile model that undergoes relaxation oscillations. A single model can account for self-organized critical behavior and relaxation oscillations, depending on the manner in which it is driven, mirroring the experimental situation for real sandpiles. The relaxation oscillations are robust with respect to minor modifications of the avalanche rules, includin...
متن کاملUnderstanding Equilibrium in the IS/LM Model
The author still worries, however, that the student is memorizing the equilibrium condition, IS=LM generates Ye, without really understanding why the condition works. Most students are unable to explain why setting IS equal to LM generates the equilibrium level of output. I have, on rare occasion, heard a student give the following explanation: "Along the IS curve the goods market is in equilib...
متن کاملAn inquiry into the multiplier process in IS - LM model
The multiplier theory is still an important analytical tool in many macroeconomic textbooks. For example, a number of textbook authors use the theory to explain the process of growth in goods market by expanding the multiplier process into a geometric series, and thus obtain the route of economic growth. Then some students raise an interesting question: Can we induce the dynamics of the monetar...
متن کاملLecture / Ponencia XX Uncertainty Analysis in the IS-LM Model
We introduce a model for uncertainty in the IS-LM linear macroeconomic model with exogenous parameters. An uncertainty profile U is a short and macroscopic description of an stressed situation. We use U to define a strategic game where two agents, the angel and the daemon, act selfishly and have different goals. Those Nash equilibria provide the stable strategies in stressed situations, giving ...
