Word Co-occurrence Augmented Topic Model in Short Text
Topic models learn topics base on the amount of the word co-occurrence in the documents. The word co-occurrence is a degree which describes how often the two words appear together. BTM, discovers topics from bi-terms in the whole corpus to overcome the lack of local word co-occurrence information. However, BTM will make the common words be performed excessively because BTM identifies the word c...
متن کاملShort Text Understanding by Leveraging Knowledge into Topic Model
In this paper, we investigate the challenging task of understanding short text (STU task) by jointly considering topic modeling and knowledge incorporation. Knowledge incorporation can solve the content sparsity problem effectively for topic modeling. Specifically, the phrase topic model is proposed to leverage the auto-mined knowledge, i.e., the phrases, to guide the generative process of shor...
متن کاملPoisson mixture model for measurements using counting.
Starting with the basic Poisson statistical model of a counting measurement process, 'extraPoisson' variance or 'overdispersion' are included by assuming that the Poisson parameter representing the mean number of counts itself comes from another distribution. The Poisson parameter is assumed to be given by the quantity of interest in the inference process multiplied by a lognormally distributed...
متن کاملA gamma model for DNA mixture analyses
We present a new methodology for analysing forensic identification problems involving DNA mixture traces where several individuals may have contributed to the trace. The model used for identification and separation of DNA mixtures is based on a gamma distribution for peak area values. In this paper we illustrate the gamma model and apply it on several real examples from forensic casework.
متن کاملA Poisson mixture model of discrete choice
In this paper, we introduce a new Poisson mixture model for count panel data where the underlying Poisson process intensity is determined endogenously by consumer latent utility maximization over a set of choice alternatives. This formulation accommodates the choice and count in a single random utility framework with desirable theoretical properties. Individual heterogeneity is introduced throu...
