The C.A.T. Pixel Proportional Gas Counter Detector
A simple geometry of real pixel gas detectors has been evaluated that circumvents the limitations of a microstrips, namely aging, gain drift and flux limitation due to the dielectric charging. A good resolution has been obtained while preserving a large active size and a high gain and counting rate capabilities.
متن کاملThe gas proportional scintillation counter / microstrip gas chamber hybrid detector
The gas proportional scintillation counter/microstrip gas chamber (GPSC/MSGC) hybrid detector for X-ray spectrometry is described. The detector uses a CsI-coated microstrip plate placed in direct contact with the gas-filling as the photosensor readout for the GPSC scintillation substituting for the photomultiplier tube (PMT). Usable photosensor maximum gain is limited by optical positive feedba...
متن کاملActivation Measurements for Thermal Neutrons
The neutron energy spectrum from the atomic bomb consisted of a range of energies from thermal to fast neutrons. Fast neutrons contribute a larger dose to the human body than lowenergy neutrons per unit flux. The evaluation of the fast neutron component has been performed based on analyses of P (>3 MeV) activity measured immediately after the Hiroshima bomb and Ni (>2 MeV), which has a much lon...
متن کاملEfficiency of a BaF, scintillator detector for 15-150 MeV neutrons
BaF, scintillator detectors are now in common use for the measurement of y-rays over a wide energy range because of the relatively high detection efficiency and the fast response which allows subnanosecond timing [1,2]. The BaF, scintillation light consists primarily of two components with decay times of or = 600 ps and TV = 620 ns [2], and the ratio of the intensities associated with each of t...
متن کاملA Position-Sensitive Ionization Chamber for Thermal Neutrons
A position-sensitive neutron detector based on He is being developed for a national crystal backscattering spectrometer (CBS) at a pulsed neutron source. It comprises a single gas volume, of constant depth, in the form of an annulus that is also part of a truncated cone. Charge from each event is collected on one or two anode strips, out of a total 336 around the annulus, yielding an angular re...
