A hypothetical urban layout generation model for exploring land use impacts on travel behavior

چکیده
In urban planning, land-use policies are commonly applied to reduce automobile travel and encourage active transport because land use is believed affect behavior. However, a debate about such effects continues in literature. Empirical studies differing context, methodology, geographic scale come different results. Although questioned of self-selection, the accumulated empirical evidence provides solid foundation for conducting simulation research that helps systematically examine attributes on This paper introduces an layout generation (ULG) model specially developed simulations. The ULG not interaction model. It generates hypothetical layouts corresponding directly D-variables, set measurements widely used studies. D-variables controlled multiple spatial scales Besides aspects road network included virtual city models, also simulates population density. Performance tests showed ability generate though reasonable which meet requirements Finally, several examples combing behavior show potential applications

Procedural City Layout Generation Based on Urban Land Use Models
Training and simulation applications in virtual worlds require significant amounts of urban environments. Procedural generation is an efficient way to create such models. Existing approaches for procedural modelling of cities aim at facilitating the work of urban planners and artists, but either require expert knowledge or external input data to generate results that resemble real-life cities, ...

Conventionally, land use and transport interaction is studied through computer simulation using large-scale integrated land use and transport models. Though comprehensive, most of these models fail to recognise that urban growth is not entirely a global but also a local process. The over-complex and data hungry nature of these models further render them inefficient as tools for strategic planni...
متن کاملUrban Economics Model for Land-Use Planning
This chapter introduces our newly developed Spatially explicit Urban Land-use Model (SULM) as a tool for resilient urban planning. The SULM can create land-use and social economic scenarios at micro districts level based on an urban economic theory. In order to co-design transformative urban plans with local stake holders, it is important to visualize possible future land-use scenarios. This mo...
متن کاملAssessing Urban Land Use Changes Using ASSA Model
Urban watersheds have been a centerpiece among communities over the last few decades. Every growing urban watershed requires a system designed to store rainwater (runoff). Hence, estimating the amount of runoff and runoff generation percentage of different parts in an urban catchment system is substantial. Therefore, this was set as the cornerstone for assessing the hydrological response of dif...
متن کاملClimate Variability Impacts on Land Use and Livelihoods in Drylands
This edited volume is devoted to the examination of the implications of the inevitable changes wrought by global change on the welfare and livelihoods of tens of millions of people who live in dryland regions. Global change is more than just climate change and the ramifications of changing trade patterns (geopolitical and economic aspects), the shift to the market economy, demographic factors (...
