A MeerKAT look at the polarization of 47 Tucanae pulsars: magnetic field implications

چکیده
ABSTRACT We present the polarization profiles of 22 pulsars in globular cluster 47 Tucanae using observations from MeerKAT radio telescope at UHF band (544–1088 MHz) and report precise values dispersion measure (DM) rotation (RM). use these measurements to investigate presence turbulence electron density magnetic fields. The structure function DM shows a break ∼30 arcsec (∼0.6 pc distance Tucanae) that suggests gas driven by motion wind-shedding stars. On other hand, RM does not show evidence break. This non-detection could be explained either limited number or effects intervening Galaxy along line sight. Future pulsar discoveries help confirm localize turbulence.

Timing the millisecond pulsars in 47 Tucanae
In the last ten years 20 millisecond pulsars have been discovered in the globular cluster 47 Tucanae. Hitherto, only three of these pulsars had published timing solutions. Here we improve upon these three and present 12 new solutions. These measurements can be used to determine a variety of physical properties of the pulsars and of the cluster. The 15 pulsars have positions determined with typi...
متن کاملMillisecond Radio Pulsars in 47 Tucanae
We review the properties of the 22 millisecond radio pulsars currently known in the globular cluster 47 Tucanae, and their implications for the mass and gas content of the cluster. Further details can be found in the publications from this project to date (Camilo et al. 2000; Freire 2000; Freire et al. 2001a,b; Freire et al. 2003). Throughout the review, we look ahead to the future results anti...
متن کاملThe radio luminosity distribution of pulsars in 47 Tucanae
We have used the Australia Telescope Compact Array to seek the integrated radio flux from all the pulsars in the core of the globular cluster 47 Tucanae. We have detected an extended region of radio emission and have calibrated its flux against the flux distribution of the known pulsars in the cluster. We find the total 20-cm radio flux from the cluster's pulsars to be S = 2.0 ± 0.3mJy. This im...
متن کاملChandra X-ray Observations of Nineteen Millisecond Pulsars in the Globular Cluster 47 Tucanae
We present spectral and long-timescale variability analyses of Chandra X-ray Observatory ACISS observations of the 19 millisecond pulsars (MSPs) with precisely known positions in the globular cluster 47 Tucanae. The X-ray emission of the majority of these MSPs is well described by a thermal (blackbody or neutron star hydrogen atmosphere) spectrum with a temperature Teff ∼ (1 − 3)× 10 K, emissio...
متن کاملTitle On the origin of X-ray emission from millisecond pulsars in 47 Tucanae
The observed spectra and X-ray luminosities of millisecond pulsars in 47 Tuc can be interpreted in the context of theoretical models based on strong, small-scale, multipole fields on the neutron star surface. For multipole fields that are relatively strong compared to the large-scale dipole field, the emitted X-rays are thermal and likely result from polar cap heating associated with the return...
