A mechanism for high-frequency variability in sapropels

نویسندگان

چکیده

Sapropels deposited in the Mediterranean Sea provide high resolution records of past oceanographic changes. Previous studies have found abrupt transitions chemical composition these sediments. We present a transient box model that provides potential mechanism for transitions. The high-frequency variability is result fluxes stopping or changing direction, causing relaxation towards new equilibrium. time scales depend on volume reservoirs and magnitude fluxes. find typical periods order 100–1000 years, similar to what has been sediment cores.

passivity in waiting for godot and endgame: a psychoanalytic reading

this study intends to investigate samuel beckett’s waiting for godot and endgame under the lacanian psychoanalysis. it begins by explaining the most important concepts of lacanian psychoanalysis. the beckettian characters are studied regarding their state of unconscious, and not the state of consciousness as is common in most beckett studies. according to lacan, language plays the sole role in ...

A New High Frequency Grid Impedance Estimation Technique for the Frequency Range of 2 to150 kHz

Grid impedance estimation is used in many power system applications such as grid connected renewable energy systems and power quality analysis of smart grids. The grid impedance estimation techniques based on signal injection uses Ohm’s law for the estimation. In these methods, one or several signal(s) is (are) injected to Point of Common Coupling (PCC). Then the current through and voltage of ...

Neogene sapropels in the Mediterranean: a review

For 50 years the existence of sapropels (organic-carbon-rich sediments) deposited within Plio–Pleistocene sediments of the Mediterranean Sea has been known. Initially, research concentrated on material recovered in relatively short gravity=piston cores taken from the eastern basins where sequences were found to be well developed=preserved and had extensive spatial coverage. In the main, previou...

High frequency tuning mechanism using nanoplasma

The ever growing demand for reconfi gurable electronic devices at mobile form factors makes RF tunable devices and circuits increasingly important. Conventional tuning mechanisms typically rely on controlling material properties or dimensions. These are often achieved by using electrical, mechanical, or thermal approach. On the other hand, the tuning principle of this study is based on changing...

High-frequency Acoustic Propagation in the Presence of Oceanographic Variability

Broadband mid-to-high frequency (0.6-18 kHz) acoustic wave propagation in shallow coastal waters (< 20 m) is influenced by a variety of oceanographic conditions. Physical parameters such as temperature and salinity as well as hydrodynamic parameters such as surface waves, tide and current can influence amplitude and travel time of signal transmissions. In this paper a unique set of simultaneous...
